Graphics Card Survey

Thanks for answering the survey guys. :)

I got more responses than I expected which is awesome. Unfortunately I couldn't include all 212 responses because I'm using the free package on Smart Survey.

Here are the results.

Thanks again for responding to the survey

Thanks for posting those results. :)

MSI wining that was predictable, GPU Chip preferences are fairly even'ish, its good to see healthy competition there, and AMD 7### GPU's far out weigh AMD 6### series GPU's, it looks like a popular series, its obviously sold pretty well.

lol i like how the majority own amd cards, and still voted for nvidia over amd...

thanks for posting results. very interesting

I wouldn't get to thought full over a few %, there has been a large move from Nvidia to AMD over the past couple of months so there are bound to be a few who are finding it a bit more difficult to get used to a different piece of hardware.

I think Nvidia would need to ask themselves why if these results resemble anything like global trends.

Mercury Research's results for Q3 and prelims for Q4 show a large move towards nVidia (slowing down towards the end of Q4) for desktop GPU market share. Tho Q4 looks like a decline in the rate of change towards nVidia it hasn't gone into the negative this quarter based on current projected data and trends.

Do you have those links?

There has been a 10% decrease in Nvidia drivers vs a 25% increase for AMD drivers in steam for October.

I suggest you click on those 2 driver bits and take a look at the expanded data ;)

Yeah i know, i just did, do you have those links? i would be interested to have a look at those.

Edit- no sinister intentions here but what do you make of this?

Jon Peddie Research (JPR) announced estimated graphics Add-in Board (AIB) shipments and sales' market share for Q2'12. The analyst firm found that AIB shipments during Q2 2012 did behave according to past years with regard to seasonality, but unit shipments was lower on a year-to-year comparison and on a quarter-to-quarter comparison for the quarter. Overall, for the AIB, and PC market in general, 2012 has been, and is forecasted to have a decline in shipments due to the popularity of notebooks and worldwide economic depression. The fact that integrated or embedded graphics processors have also gotten faster haven't helped the discrete graphics card market. The AMD Trinity APU's and Intel Ivy Bridge CPU's have solid graphics performance and many users are finding they don't need a discrete video card for everyday tasks and light gaming. The study also found that AMD improved its market share to 40.3% and NVIDIA dropped to 59.3%.

According to them AMD have taken market share from Nvidia (Q2)

lol.

You just won't hear anything said against AMD will you? I think everything I've read from you recently is you saying, "yeah but...." whenever someone says something unfavourable to AMD.

Why are you so loyal and defensive over a company like Nvidia which are there to take your money and make profit off your back? :p

What he said was a valid thing to say based on the results. What people prefer doesn't matter as much as what they own anyway....

What these results do show is that if AMD and nVidia produce a card which is priced identically and performs identically then the majority of people will go for the nVidia card. So AMD need to continue to work hard on their drivers and also the overall bundle with the card to bridge this deficit.

Im not surprised about the nvidia drivers, im probably one of only two people I can think of on these forums who would want to use 301.42 and thats only because the newer drivers are c&*p for quad sli.

Imo, the figures in the sales graph above don't tell the whole story in regards to Nvidia's 'extra sales' over AMD in the discrete market.

'APUs Make Up Nearly 75% of AMD's Processor Sales'

Add in(or not if you dismiss the use of apu's) AMD's apu's to the total and numbers start to change dramatically.

@humbug, steam survey is ****, it never once discovered my CrossFire setup, at one point it said I was using SLi!
