OK thread title is a little missleading

Both of my nephews (age 11-13) both activly collect and play this card game called "Magic the gathering."

I am sure some of you guys on here have heard of this before and might know a little more about it than I do.

With christmas around the corner I wouldnt mind getting them some of these cards to help add to thier growing collections.

Whilst I have no idea about what cards they currently own I am mainly after suggestions on the best most useful thing to buy them for them to use.

Be it cards, carry case accesories or whatever I really need some suggestions. I dont really fancy spending more than £25-£30 per nephew.

Also what is the best place to get this sort of stuff? Again pardon my ignorance reference this but I really know nothing about it all!

Thanks in advance.

depends on what sort of deck they're building... Yes I used to be that sad.

Well thats a good thing that its a "used to be"

Nah I dont judge.

Is there anything that I could get that would be useful for any kind of deck? Or are there like packs that can have any cards in like when pokémon cards where around?

It's fine mentioning places like Amazon, Argos, etc. as long as it's not regarding something OcUK sell :)

I'm an active magic player so I might be able to help!

The most reliable UK vendor of MTG stuff is www.magicmadhouse.co.uk They aren't the cheapest (it's cheaper to buy and ship from the US normally) but they do quick delivery and I've never had any trouble with them.

The Holiday Gift box is cool as it gives them some cards plus a box to store everything in. http://www.magicmadhouse.co.uk/acce...133/return-to-ravnica-holiday-gift-box-p41116

If you want to spend slightly more, I'd recommend a Fat Pack http://www.magicmadhouse.co.uk/magi...vnica-c1388/return-to-ravnica-fat-pack-p40009 This gives them a bunch of boosters and basic land which are very useful for new players, plus another box to store cards in.

Alternatively, just buying some booster packs of Return to Ravnica will give them cards from the most up-to-date set and everyone likes boosters.

You can buy lots of old cards for very little off the likes of ebay but depending on what your nephews play (casually? at their local games shop/club?) they may not want old cards.

Me too :(

Pure green forest and a pure blue sea deck (I completely rocked with my forest deck)

Many friends had black and white which looked fun to play...

TO THE OP... I don't know how much boxes of booster packs are but It might be worth buying 1 box and splitting it between the two of them... That way they are guaranteed (almost) some good cards. Edit... I think this method is very expensive so might have to give it a miss

Thanks for all of that mate I will have a look at those now!

I know they play at the local clubs every Friday night and are getting quite into it. I know the older of the 2 won a little local games comp they had recently so I think its something he will stick at for a while.

Cheers for the help so far people!

I'd guess they're playing Friday Night Magic then. If so they'll want the most recent cards so cards from Return to Ravnica would be ideal. Personally, I'd plump for the fat pack, more packs = more fun!

Yeah boxes have skyrocketted compared to the good old days. Looking at £90-100 for a box now :(

The Deck Builders Toolkits are pretty good value at about £16-£17 for nearly 300 cards. Most of the cards would probably be too basic/common for them, but you do get 4 proper booster packs which would normally cost £14 on their own.

What ever happened to bicycles, football and building tree huts?

Here kid, I'm encouraging you to obsess over a minor amusement which is fleecing you for money, you could if you wanted copy the game cards and play exactly the same game.
It's like role playing games used to be fun until Games workshop decided to control everything related to the franchise.

Please don't start the 'wasting money on a hobby' argument again.

Assumption much? what a complete **** post.

They get out and exercise a lot and have MANY other things they enjoy doing. In fact more so than most kids I know. Just because they have another hobby card related doesn't mean you can assume what they are like.

What a bell.

Yes troll post is obvious and i bit.
