Nice idea re first touch star rating, though that would assume that it isnt random, or as pseudo-random as it is in real-time to actually control/minimise first touch accordingly (i.e. if I was told I cant pass with my weak fooot Ill make sure to place the player relative to the ball so he passes with the preferred or traps the ball with his good foot, just like shooting) - though I think EAs pretty much alienated me in from ever automatically getting FIFA again. The same issues I saw in the demo are in the game...
What Ive started to notice in 12 though is that you still get poor first touches in the game but its far more to do with overhit balls, or players trying to stretch to take an inaccurate pass - what happens in 13 is far from realistic especially as you said when it comes to top level football.
The major gripe I still have is that the AI is so unbalanced its not funny, in 11 it was too easy to defend so they introduced tactical defending in 12 so it was more balanced (well to me it is compared to 11 where you could make a cup of tea and defend), now in 13 theyve introduced a much aggressive attacking AI which is so overpowered that the zero improvements theyve made in the defending AI are readily apparent.
Its no surprise people here are finding it harder to defend or magically believe 13 has made them poor at defending and why most are moving to 5 at the back just to get bodies there to avoid when FIFA decides to ignore your inputs.
And dont get me started on the passing, how have they broken it that when I pass (and it so obvious what Im doing with the controller) to a man in space it decides to pass to someone completely different and in pretty much another area of the pitch...
The naunces good players utilise to make their play better than a random are just totally negated by first touch and the decision EA made to make pretty much all normal shots on target
