Hi there

I need somewhere to vent my excitement for shiny hardware at cheap prices so where better to share it! :P

My luck with b grade lately has been astonishing! In July I managed to buy a 7970 from b grade for £239! and I made a thread about that, and then today I managed to pick up a SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X OC 7950 for £179.99 to crossfire with! My luck with this series of graphics card with b grade has been unbelievable! Has anyone else had similar luck with b grade? if so please share!

on top of that, trying to not divert to much from a graphics related thread, I also upgraded today to a i5 2500k to power the cards, and since I was an amd 955 owner before hand I needed a new motherboard to...

And so yet again b grade to the rescue! I picked up a Gigabyte Z68X-UD4 for £60! which meant the only item I paid full price for was the i5 2500k!

The price total for all of this was:

B grade SAPPHIRE VAPOR-X OC 7950 for £179.99 was £269.99
INTEL CORE I5 2500K £169.99
B grade Gigabyte Z68X-UD4 £60.00 was £147.98

Total price: £410.00
Total saving: £177.98

So, the message of all of this? Check B grade often, you might just save a lot of money!

I did have one question however, I have a 2560x1440 monitor, going from an amd 955 processor overclocked to 3.6ghz, can I expect a big jump in fps? As I have heard that my 955 was bottlenecking my 7970.

Thanks for reading!

Yea people can pick up some nice deals from B-grade if they are brave enough.

The only down side with B-grade (besides the initial risk) is the warranty. They are only 90 days with OcUK, and whatever manufacturer warranty is left from the day that the card is made. But yea...if the price save is big enough, they are well worth it.

As for bottlenecking...the only thing I could see if possibly there are situations which the CF7950 can do 60fps while the Phenom II X4 cannot; with a i5 2500K overclocked, it should hold 60fps no problem for most games, provided that there's enough grunt on graphic card side.

Yeah, have had some good stuff from b-grade myself.

Oddly though, I was just the other day looking in b-grade graphics and there was nothing at all, which led me to purchase 2 7950 vapor-x new at £450 for both, which isn't too bad I don't think.

Now I see there is a fair few things, and I might very well have taken one of them... oh well.

Using a 'B' grade MSI P67A-GD65 here, one of the best motherboards I have had and it only cost £45.

I bought 2 B Grade monitors saving me a grand total of £200. If I bought new and recieved them, I wouldn't have been any the wiser.

I find B grade still too risky, B grade tvs/monitors are different then cards. You can see the damage if there is any and send them back if they fail within 3 months as they should do if just bodged up.

Cards however its much harder too tell and they could pop any min.
