Well, i might be short on budget this christmas... I was aiming for a pc for 800pounds but i might need to build something for 500 pounds.

I'm not really that much into medium-price level so i've got no idea what parts to choose as in this price level it does matter.

Well... this set will not need to have OS(i've got win7), case(i've got coolermaster stoorm trooper), monitor(i've got something full hd) and powersupply(i've got 750w).

Lets see what you guys can get out of this ammount! Boo-ya!

What is the make/model of your current 750W PSU?

Without skimping a lot and trying to retain some quality parts, I've come up with this so far.

Personally I would keep saving so you can get a bigger HDD, maybe an SSD, plus a better GPU (7950/670). Alternatively, for now you could grab an Intel G620 Pentium (Sandybridge) for £42 odd and then grab an i5-3570K at a later date when you have more money then upgrade the GPU later. Overall, saving more would be cheaper. :)

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - Retail £184.99
1 x MSI HD 7850 Twin Frozr III OC 2048MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Cards w/ FARCRY3, Nexuiz & Sleeping Dogs PC Games £169.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £89.99
1 x Toshiba (7K1000.D) 500GB SATA 6GB/s 32MB Cache - OEM (DT01ACA050) £47.99
1 x Patriot Viper "Black Mamba" Generation 3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (PV38G160C9K) £26.99
Total : £519.95 (includes shipping : FREE).

Yeah... i'll need to get money for cooling anyway... Well, by next year i'm thinking about muying ssd, better gpu and some good CPU cooler and oc CPU to 4,5ghz.

Oh, my PSU is a good one.. Antec hybrid 750w bronze.

I'll buy 7950, it will be 570 pounds. My only problem is... Will the stock cooler be able to handle cooling this cpu for about 6 months?

Yeah... I'm thinking about waiting till before christmas as i'll buy many parts and i may be able to save a few pounds for better parts.

Doesn't hurt to talk through your options though fella. If I was to get a 7850 I would lean towards the MSI Frozr IV, the cooler is improved over the Frozr III and the GPU isn't voltage locked which will help with overclocking the GPU. The GB 7950 was a nice shout by Sparx if you can afford one :)

I think that going for 7850 is pointless for me as i would upgrade for 7950 anyway so i'll save 70 more pounds and get 7950 straight away. Then i'll buy some good cooler, noctua or something and an SSD. Maybe for my birthday? 19th of April seems as enough of time to collect that extra 300 pounds.

@edit
Or i'll wait till christmas and if i'm lucky i'll be able to buy all that parts for something aroudn 600 pounds...

Read reviews of the suggested parts. Once you have a good understanding of what the parts offer it's obviously much easier to balance the build. How much you want to spend and wether you do some parts as upgrades (i.e Heatsink,SSD) later is really down to you.

As you have a 750W PSU that is enough for SLI/Xfire for two 670s, so maybe you would like a SLI/Xfire capable mobo?

1 x Gigabyte Z77X-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £112.99
1 x Samsung 128GB SSD 830 Desktop Series SATA 6Gb/s KIT with Norton Ghost - (MZ-7PC128D/EU) £89.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB SATA GB/s 64MB Cache - OEM (ST1500DL003) £55.99
1 x Thermalright HR-02 Macho CPU Cooler (Socket LGA775/LGA1156/LGA1155/LGA1366) £33.59
1 x Corsair XMS3 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (CMX8GX3M2A1600C9) £29.99
Total : £699.53 (includes shipping : £10.00).

I would prefer the 830 I think myself over the 840 Basic, the Pro version of the 840 is the better SSD (review for 250GB). I used the XMS3 as the Patriot Viper RAM has an "aggressive heatspreader" so isn't technically low profile, this can make the choice of heatsink more troublesome.

Mobo can do SLI/Xfire, I prefer the styling of the black PCB over the entry level Z77-D3Hs blue look. You could ommit the heatsink but I included a nice one on offer currently. The HDD is an eco drive and has decent capacity for the price. I tried to balance this against Sparx's last spec, mine works out a little cheaper and I did inc. the P&P but I have used the 7850 Frzr IV in mind to OC it. Hope this helps so you can balance the build how you like, I look forward to seeing what you put together in time :)

I prefere to have dark colours as my case is black with red-lighted fans. Gigabyte GA-Z7 supports crossfire, but 1 thing is nvidia GPUs have lower estimed life time and I don't want more than one GPU in my build as my dad doesn't earn much money so i want to keep the bills low. I'll use 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair DDR3 Vengeance Arctic White ram as it's low profile and after a while i'll buy noctua nh-d14 or something to get high OC. I'm not thinking about ssd that much bit i'm aiming at max 200pounds with about 250gb.

I'm not completly noob in building a PC but i got so angry on my laptop that i was about to buy anything today, so i wanted some good build, but i cooled down and niah... I'll wait a bit for christmas sales.

In my incoming build i'll buy 1TB Seagate ST1000DM003 Barracuda 7200 or i'll wait until i save 800pounds and i'll buy better HDD, SSD and Noctua nh-d14/Phanteks CPU Performance Cooler Premium Red Edition.

I'm just really nervous cuz my parrents are saving money by last 6 months and it will be my first personal gaming PC. My five years old laptop is really slow and i can't really play anything other than minesweeper...
