Are 3 any good?

I'm thinking of switching from T-Mobile mostly due to rubbish reception where I am), to 3 .... but the recurring statement I hear when 3 are mentioned is:

"they're good for data - but rubbish for voice"

Is that generally true? What happens when you lose your data signal?!

Would appreciate any current or previous customer experiences!

Thanks

Never had a problem with here in Peterborough with regards to service.

Only issue is that i appear to have an intermittent 3G signal when out in the back garden having a ciggy. But if i really need to do something while outside i use the house Wi-Fi anyway.

Im with 3 on my iphone. Never had a problem.

Not sure what you mean? They only use 3G signals so you either have a signal and its 3G or you have no signal (It doest fall back to 2G). Your best bet would be to go check there coverage checker and make sure the areas your in most are covered :)

Falls back to Orange/EE when I can't get 3G signal :)

If you are constantly in a good 3G coverage area indoors and out they are good, and you should see fast data connections and "usual" voice comms.

However, if your reception is flaky, as mine is at work, they are useless as basically you have no service at all.

Also their customer service is a nightmare to deal with in my experience, possibly the worst network I've dealt with.

Can't you request a sure signal and set it up at work?

This pretty much sums it up from my experience, when the signal is good it's great but when it's not, it's not. And their CS sucks.

3 offer cheap deals with decent signal strength in a lot of areas and decent data speeds as well. Just hope you never have a problem though as their customer support lines are some of the worst I have ever experienced.

If it helps any, although I don't think they're perfect they're better than Vodafone who I was with for 6 years. All you can eat data is useful too.

Switched from Vodafone to 3 and couldn't be happier. The few times I've had to call CS they were helpful and sorted whatever needed sorting out.

Oh, unlimited data and free tethering is awesome.

No other network comes even close.

Went to the arse end of Wales, perfect reception, GF on Vodafoan had no service. Same with North Yorks dales and Scotland.

I preferred just to switch (back) to GiffGaff, plus I move around the site a lot.

As this thread proves, Three are great for some, but pretty unusable for others. Same as most networks by and large. When they are good however, I agree that 4G excepted, their data speeds are unmatched.
