Next gen of cards eta?

Building pc for my brother soon and debating whether to build it with a 7950 or wait until the next gen of cards are released. Obviously this depends on their eta as he can't wait too long

Do we have a rough eta for Nvidia/ATI's next gen release dates?

From stuff i've been reading (and it's mostly all been speculation) but seems we're not to expect anything before march 2013.. Again don't hold me to that but nvdias next release has been rumoured to be held back to then and I imagine Amd would try to meet their rival's deadline.. No doubt we'll find out more in the next coming month or two?!

march is the current estimate for both sides. gpu performance is expected to make a 15% increase, but with significant power draw improvements... and amd claim very nice release prices (though it could easily be a lie). if you want a gaming pc now, i'd build now though

Ok, thanks for the advice guys. He definitely won't be able to wait that long- his pc is over five years old at the moment! 15% improvement isn't enough to be worth holding on for either really...

hehe they could be 20% higher than the currant cheapest 7970 on here and still be 10% under the 7970 launch price
