I've been a gamer for 30 years but these last few years somethings happened which I could never have forseen. I'm losing intreats in gaming completely. This goes for both console and PC. All I see is Fifa and Call Of Duty post and pretty much that's it. I think gaming is moving away from what I use to enjoy.

The prices of gams were suppose to go down when they moved over to CD instead they're becoming more expensive than ever. Greed by publishes makign developers hold cointent back to make gamers pay extra which should have been free as it was intended to be part of the finished product. Expansions aren't an issue I like 20+ hours added to my single player games.

The shift to digital purchases and how the future may tie games on Disc to even be locked to console. Will kill my keen game collecting in the future.

New consoles are on the way and I'm no longer get excited. Mayeb the last time was last gen. The Wii U is out in the states and I couldn't care less about it. What's happening to me? Gaming is my everything.

I'm still buying my retro stuff. Currently enjoying Shocktroopers on my Neo Geo.

Becoming more expensive?

If anything taking into account inflation they're getting cheaper.

I was going to say this. They haven't risen in 10 -20 years. Pretty sure PS1 games were £30 - £40.... Plus they drop in price so much faster these days.

I agree gaming has become a bit boring. BLOPS 2 and FIFA 13 haven't really changed that much but when games like Bulletstorm try to do something a bit different and dont make a profit its easy to see why developers churn out popular sequels.

That's your fault. Open your eyes.

What you're saying is like me saying I don't like music anymore because Britpop isn't on the radio. What I should learn to do is find a different station.

I think it's as good as ever, recently Halo 4, Dishonored, Mark of the Ninja, Borderlands 2, Guild Wars 2 have all been brilliant. So much so that I have games like Assassins Creed 3, Hitman, Forza Horizon which are going to have to wait for a less busy time to play.

You'd think Fifa and COD was the only games developed these I like to learn about. It's making the forum boring. I keep popping over to see what's new often still and it's always the same. There may be new games coming out I may like but I won't find out if people only talk about the same two games all the time.

Oh I agree on here there isn't much discussion outside those two games. PC forum is better these days (even if the technical babble does annoy me sometimes) Too much fps, spec discussion.

TBH COD and FIFA have always been the big discussion threads for years, so if those dont interest you and you feel the forums dont reflect your tastes its in your best interests to start threads on games/genres that interest you.

I bet youll pull a few replies - its just unfortunate that the biggest 2 games on consoles are usually the ones that are also cheapest on launch day compared to rest of the year, so youll get lots of people interested in them straight from the off...

The majority of my games buying nowadays is via PSN or remakes, in all honesty Im now tending to move away from online games and going for SP experiences more and more often. I find MP stuff is so hollow when it comes to progression...

Maybe you need to try some indie games.

You played Fez?

I know what you mean though. I've totally lost any drive to play any story game at the moment apart from Halo 4...which is epic.

far far far too many sequels, were all playing the same games we played 4-5 years ago with a different number on the end and its got boring. the sooner we get some new consoles and some new IP's the better imo.

Actually I've been considering checking out some indie games. It would be nice to play some games that were created with the love of gameing before money. :D

I felt exactly the same until I discovered World of Tanks and its free.

I am not for a moment suggesting everyone will like it, but it is just finding 'that game'

I think the Playstation one was the best Playstation. We got the first Resident Evil games. Tekken 1,2 and 3. Every one as love in their hear for Tekken 2 and OMG don't for get Ridge Race 1, Revaluation and Rage Racer. If you purchased the Saturn you also got some amazing games Sega Rally VF1 and 2, Fighting Vipers, Virtual Cop, House Of The Dead etc. If you had the N64 you had Turok 1 and 2, Golden Eye Merry 64 Etc. What a amazing Gen in gaming for gamers.

And you folks wonder why I moan today.

I dont think anyone wonders why you moan, its just most of us are well aware of the situation with todays gaming (higher dev costs is gonna lead to safer bets = sequels) and have already attempted to fix it one way or the other rather than just moaning...

The thing that worries me is that new generation of consoles just isnt going to bring a significant amount of new IP unless there are there to exploit that consoles USP so realistically the next consoles are gonna be more of the same, just with nicer graphics...

My interest in gaming has its peaks and troughs, so I have some other hobbies to enjoy - if anything it maybe makes me enjoy gaming all the more when I've had a bit of a break, and I appreciate my life more for doing other things :)

Whilst I have been feeling eactly the same as you (i.e. losing interest in games) but not for the same reasons you have stated....

Infact I just seem to be losig interest in general but for no apprent reason... and it scares the poo out of of me...
