I have to get to and from Waterloo station to Liverpool Street station every day this week during rush 'hour'. ICan anyone advise as to what they think is the best way to do that so I'm not a sardine every day? Is it even possible? I was thinking of trying the northern line to Tottenham Court road, then the Central line to Liverpool Street?

Waterloo and City line to Bank, and then Bank to Liverpool Street. Should taken 10-15 minutes. The queue for the W&C line will look horrendous first thing in the morning, but the queue does move really quickly and you might have to wait 5-10 minutes to get on the train.

One does not simply get a seat in rush hour.

You are going to be crushed what ever you do for that journey, unless you get there early and have a nice brisk walk.

I think you should try a different form of transport every day to determine the quickest. My money is on the elephant ride, providing you can get it angry enough.

Waterloo and city line to bank and then walk 10mins to liverpool st?
This. Getting a tube from Bank to Liverpool St is pointless. 10 minutes is generous for the walk - it'd probably take you longer to get the tube at rush hour, and it'd certainly be a more comfortable journey!

Would it be possible to Boris Bike part of your journey? A mate of mine loves those things - he takes them everywhere.

I can't remember quite how close Waterloo and City is to the central line at bank, but it can be quite a walk underneath bank.

Also, getting on a train from Bank to Liverpool Street at rush hour can be anything from get there and get straight on a train (rare), to having to wait for 3 trains until you can squeeze onto one (common). They do come along about every two minutes mind.

After a couple of days you'll quickly learn where to queue though to get off at the right place, be off first, and avoid the traffic mind.

I spent six weeks doing Rush Hour London Bridge to Liverpool Street between 17:30 and 18:00 over Summer.

It was northern line from London Bridge to Bank and then central line to Liverpool Street.

Honestly, it really wasn't too bad. I didn't think I'd like the whole sardine thing, but really, you get used to it, and it's not too bad...

How long did that journey take? It's a about a mile straight down one road - you could walk it in under 20 minutes. It'd have been quite pleasant in summer! I'd bet with the tube changes and rush hour load it'd take nearly that long to take the two tubes!

I used to do that route in reverse. W&C to Bank and then walk it. Getting on the Central Line for one stop during rush hour isn't worth it.

There is an app for them too now, though god knows why I know that as the only bike ive been close to for 15 years is the one I move around the wall of my garage.
