Finally, proper PC gaming at a desk..!!

Theres no bloatwware at all on AW.

You know, I'd never buy a Dell, HP or Alienware Desktop, but I've had a Dell laptop and its been fine, I read so many good things (apart from price) about the alienware, that after I got an amazing amount off the M17x I went for it..

I think some of the comments in the thread are, well erm ok. The M17x was much cheaper then then the ASUS G75 and had a better GPU.

I think its maybe the fact Dell charge a fortune for alienware laptops as honestly all the reviews i read said it was without doubt a real performer and worth purchasing..

The huge Alienware thread speaks highly of them as well..

As for bloatware, well I can remove that not an issue... Oh well guess haters goner hate.

Nobody should go public with an Alienware purchase.

...indeed, because green eyed monsters like you inevitably make an appearance!

Cancel the laptop order and get a desktop.

Not only will you get better hardware for the same money.

If only he had someone as knowledgeable as you before making his decision? Desktops are more friendly in terms of price/performance? Well I never, it's a revelation... it's almost as though he has a reason for wanting a laptop instead of a desktop! Craziness.

You could get an Acer with 50% more power at 50% the price, with 0% of the useless bloatware.

They look cool though, but Alienware are just not worth it at all, unless you literally have money falling out your backside.

Can you please name the ACER laptop model with 50% more power at half the price? Or are you talking absolute ****? Yup, thought so. ;)

I don't know anything about alienware machines I tend to build my own from scratch. But enjoy your new machine m8, go grab WarZ and jump on with us :)

There's no need for the attitude, tecman did say himself: "don't regret ordering the alienware laptop, although does make me think maybe I should have now got a desktop PC?".

After speaking the missus last night, I do not regret going for the powerful laptop option.. I said about desktop and her response was how am I meant to use that in the living room or move it around?

I don't think she'll let me game at a desk EVERY single evening lol much as I'd want to..

Desktop gaming is dead for me, laptop gaming only now and I think I'll enjoy it. I knew what i'd purchased, i knew it wouldn't match a desktop 7970, but it'll be up there with a 7850 - 7870 with tweaking - good enough for me.

Heck, I played Crysis 2 in a mobile 5650M, 720p, lower details.. This new machine will be like a rocket.. lol

I'm now thinking a more serious issue is why Iv-tecman is allowing his missus to call the shots around the house? what went wrong? ;)

all you guys seem to be under the thumb, my misses has no objection at all to me gaming in another room, although I prefer having the PC in the front room, as its the only room I can fit the desk in. She knows I don't watch much telly so she's happy for me to go on the PC, if there's nothing on telly that she wants then we'll either put a film on and watch together or go on the PS3/Wii together. It's not about the other half LETTING you, it's you not having the balls to compromise...

This XD

Got a dining room table but its not the table thats been the issue. Its been where I'm sitting, thats been the issue. Missus always moaned I was sitting upstairs too much and not spending any time with her..

Then my daughter was born, and this put paid to the computer room as that got turned into a nursery, and well been on the sofa ever since..l

Word for word, describes exactly what is happening to me!
I dream of the day I get a desk and gaming pc again..:p

Ah man I so wish that was true, you're lucky. I tell you I'll swap my missus for yours and see how far that gets you...

I've had my missus walk out with my 10 month old baby leaving nothing but a note saying "enjoy your games, I'm leaving as you don't care about me" trust me, its always been easier to just ease things in, my missus is an emotional lass, doesn't like to be ignored too long, thankfully as my daughter is now getting towards a year old and its starting to make my missus just appreciate time on her own I'm now starting to get away with a lot more then I use to..

my missus is a great mother, she has good qualities but she is emotional and doesn't like it when I would game when she was watching telly on her own.... Recently, as I've put a stop to rubbish on telly, shes been itching to watch her rubbish and found me out of the way means she gets more of what she wants...

funny that.. Stopped her watching x factor , soon lets me on the games etc.. Funny how that works. We do however watch movies and play some PS3 games together, like PS move for example..

It's all about compromise, I gave up my gaming pc (which was mediocre at best anyway) turned the room into a nursery. Invested in a laptop, but it's not good enough to run high spec games. I'm lucky enough to have a mrs that enjoys gaming, so we play PS3 together occasionally. PC gaming can be appear to be a very solitary hobby.
If I had the money I'd buy another gaming pc tho, but a pesky baby is sucking all my time and funds :D

Wait...you bought a gaming desk... but an alienware laptop to use on it.

Fail.

read the entire thread...

As in, i'm lucky to get a desk but I can say it'll not be something I'll be using ALL the time so a laptop is still required and I prefer mobile gaming nowadays anyhow.
