Best way / company to insure two cars

So I currently have a single policy with LV Insurance, 9 years NCD, took it out in July.

I have just put a deposit down on a 370Z and already own a Mondeo for practical duties. I intend to keep both cars for a while.

My current insurer will not insure me on the 370Z, 30 is their minimum age according to their system, I'm only 29.

Admiral and others will however insure me for a reasonable price.

After a little research (but not talking to Admiral or an actual company yet), am I correct in understanding the following is the best (or only??) way to insure both cars?

1) Cancel existing policy with LV.
2) Take my 9 years NCD to Admiral and apply it to the 370Z (as this is the sportier of the two cars).
3) Insure my sensible Mondeo as the second car. I understand that I will not be granted 9 years NCD on this, just a portion of it / whatever I can haggle with the company (hence transferring the 9 years NCD to the 370Z).

Does that sound about right?? Anyone have any better plans?

Thanks

I found it cheaper to insure 2 cars on 2 seperate policies than having multicar policy, by about £100 too.

Can you not use ncb on 2 cars at once? Is that normal?
If so that throws a spanner in the works for my brief considerations for buying an mx5 to go along with my mondeo...

Sky insurance mirrored my policy on my second car. Their prices were also better than anyone else.

This. LV wouldn't insure me on the R32 for the same reason as you (too young!). Went with Sky Insurance who gave me an excellent deal that was by far cheaper than anyone else. Other companies and even specialists were quoting me £1200 and upwards with silly excesses where as Sky quoted me £550 with a low excess.

Worth checking if there is any owners clubs online for the 370Z as Sky Insurance offer discounts for these. They gave me a 20% discount for being a member of R32OC which made quite a big difference in price!

I found Aviva multi-car to be the cheapest way to insure my 2 cars.

Also, with Aviva I setup the multi-car with staggered start-dates, so I didn't waste 6months NCB by cancelling my original policy, instead starting the multi-car with the new car and having the older car automatically added at an agreed cost when its insurance ran out.
