Are 3 any good?

I've had enough of T-Mobile and their shoddy business practices and declining customer service. I've been with them since 1998 but after their reluctance to refund me and make a mess of my account its time for a change.

I'm heading to Three in December and pick up the sim only all you can eat tariff.

Goodbye T-Mobile..I can't say that its been fun!

Lol if you think Three's customer service is any good. I've been with them a few times now and have atrocious customer service. Polite but incompetent.

If you have any technical issues they will attempt to read their guides on adding and removing APN settings when the fault is clearly with the mast.

Also with their all-you-can-eat data, their internet speeds in the evening when people are running it as their home internet connection can bring your speed to a complete standstill as masts weren't built for that. I hope you don't live in a place with lots of rented accommodation where people don't want 18/24 month landline/internet contracts.

I'm leaving again as I was hoping they'd got around the latter problem by blocking tethering for most customers, but they haven't sadly. They were really good in their first year of having the one plan before everyone caught onto the idea they could use it as a cheap and mobile internet connection.

Looking to move from Giffgaff to Three later on today, as my new tablet arrives any day now and Three do tethering. I'm currently using an unlocked iPhone 3GS which takes a normal sim, but in (hopefully) three weeks I'll have a Nexus 4 which takes a micro sim. I do have a sim cutter on order, but would it be simple to just walk in a 3 store and picking up a micro, or order one online?

What CS isn't terrible these days? I normally tweet the Three CS and get a decent reply quickly.

The guy I got my sim from in the store on Oxford Street said they have a sim cutter, so all I gotta do is bring in the sim.

I've added the £5 addon for tethering to the Ultimate Internet 200 (£12.90), but it's showing as a 1gb allowance on My3 (tho it does say above that all you can eat is included). I thought it was unlimited?

It will never go below 1gb, had similar issues with my account with three. Use it for a day and check it should be static on 1024 Mb

Just cut the sim card yourself. I did my GF's when she upgraded from a 3GS to Lumia 920 a few days ago. Took all of 1 minute using my micro-SIM as a template (I put some grippy paper - wet tissue or a piece of temp glue - between them so they dont slip around after you've lined them up then just cut around your own, check for fit, cut a tiny bit more if too tight - I did with kitchen scissors)

Oh and I moved from GiffGaff to 3 about 6 months ago and haven't looked back. 3 has way better data coverage and their SIMs are ridiculously cheap (£12.90pm rolling contract for unlimited data + tethering).

The Three stores just across the road from work so it's not a problem, plus if they break it its there fault.

I too just moved from Giffgaff and that's the first thing I've noticed, the speeds and signal reliability are a lot better on 3. The true tester will be the train journey home, never can hold the signal for more than a few seconds on Giffgaff.

For some reason on 3 i get the odd day like once every couple of months where i get no signal, there looking into it but i will be moving to gifgaf if it happens many more times.
