Keep on testing i really want to see if it makes a difference, i agree on multicard but not single and 20 fps increase i just dont believe at all.

Also recored minimum FPS this is the most important, having 70 max and 10 min is pointless.

Just BSOD on starting BF3. Time to crank up some volts and try again... :D

Random question but i've got a 2700K at 4.8Ghz, will this be O.K for the higher end cards like if I want to XFire/SLI the current gen, top end cards? I'm just wondering how long my 2700K will last me for basically.

Ok just tried the same map with the 2700K @ 4.5ghz and the minimum according to fraps was 72fps. Both GPU's again at %99...

Both on the same map with lots going on. The 2700k holds 2fps over the 2500K, with both CPU's it felt perfectly smooth and tbh if I did not know which was which I would not have been able to tell them apart.

Now I'm going to disable my 2nd GPU and try the I7 with a single GPU and then re-install my I5 and do the same.

All good fun... :D

I'm just wondering.

What are the real world gaming benefits of overclocking? (Your modern i5/i7 CPU that is not GPU)

By modern I mean either Sandy or Ivy.

I can see the point of overclocking the 'last generation i5 and i7'

How are you installing an I7 then an I5 so quickly?

Are 4 more threads on the I7 worth the price increase? Like he says hes seeing no difference in games?

1080p 120Hz....

With the single 7950 @ 1000/1600 I can see quite a bit of juddering and general slowdown. Fraps is saying the min is around 42fps.

Ah - I run 150 MHz faster so unsurprisingly don't experience the same.

Is 120 Hz not the problem then?

Refresh rate has nothing to do with frame rate. The perceived slow downs are because it's dropping to ~40 FPS.

Hmm i play at 1920x1200 so i guess below 30 fps with that card? also your overclock on that card is not very big? Why not?

No. Not THAT much difference between 1080 and 1200. In fact the difference is negligible.

I normally run two and tbh have not found any need to go higher. Even with the cards at stock 800/1250 everything runs perfect. I clock them to 1000/1600 and on stock volts they run cool and quite.
