I5 2500k bottleneck for 7970?

What GPU set up do you have Matt? I find it literally unbelievable you've witnessed 20+ frame rate improvement with HT.

Do you have any results that you've tested multiple times? (To weed out any possible outlier)

How so rusty? At stock the threads help when overclocked it doesn't need the threads help. Moogley is proving this. And again link me the same benches at a decent resolution.

You are completely over simplifying how it actually works. I don't know how this has turned into basically just you arguing when you've probably not used an i7 and therefore are not eligible to comment.

Focus on me all you like but you're ignoring the other people in this thread alone who are saying the opposite of you. I'll just let the other users experience talk :). Tell them they're wrong.

I tested it with 6950 xfire setup and later a heavily clocked 7970. i5 was @ 4.7ghz.

The main zone that myself and the OP tested was the car park on sharqi.

We'd both see drop to the mid to low 40's. Now it only drops to mid to low 60's.

Leaving the us base on caspian with my i5+7970 looking out across the map towards b and d id get drops to 50-55fps (even with 12.11) now it never goes below 70-80.

I don't have any proof, apart from the fact the OP knows we both had the same fps at the same point on sharqi. I posted screenshots a few pages back from the results i now get with my i7.

To be fair, your results appear to be the extreme. In reality the difference will be less. By reality I mean by actually gaming normally.

p.s. 1 more post for 3K for you :D.

If you hadn't err "trashed" my MM thread you would have needed two you little bugger! :D :D :D

I agree this is an extreme scenario, but i wouldn't say the caspian one was. There are more as well, Gulf Of Oman, Strike At Karand, even some places on Firestorm. Typically when you can see a large part of the whole map with lots of players in.

I did say though and try to make it clear its slight and nothing major. But to say there is no difference is false imo.

Also, Lol stop bringing that up im trying to forget it. :D

I have to say though i know i broke the MM rule but i was not trashing the thread.

Anyway, i wont make that mistake again. ;)

No im not arguing with you you raged at me mate that's why i responded to you so don't try to act all innocent.

Im trying to see what the difference is just because i don't own one doesn't mean i can't talk about it? Your really up your own arse mate. Its not just me who thinks 20fps gain is insane.

The main reason im here is because i want to know which is better for my future upgrade as i will own one of these or the newer core.

Not owning has got nothing to do with it Mr pro.

I know you weren't!

By the way - I didn't even get a response saying "no" about my enquiry to unban you. Nothing. Silence :(

Sorry for the O/T.

I think he is not testing a CPU intensive scenario. In fact I don't know how he is measuring it so it's difficult to tell.

Using map Caspian border 64 players. Measuring simply with my camera recording the Fraps FPS reading in the corner.

Doing this is testing whilst playing the game in a non scripted enviroment. It's not going to be perfect as every game is different but it represents the game being played and the FPS.

No, I think it's an outlier.

I guess if someone with an i5 running full ultra preset (nothing disabled) with a decent overclock could go to the same spot (sharqi car park) and see if they get the dips myself and the OP did? Those dips definitely aren't present now.

(This is not aimed at you Martini)
I don't mind if people think im lying, im just posting what i (and others who made the same switch) have seen. Its up to other people to decide if they want to believe it or not Doesn't affect me either way, ill just enjoy the extra few fps. :)

Alas however, whoever Weehamish is, I share the opinion of the frame rate (As in the gain, not that there can't be a minor difference), while Weehamish isn't exactly very articulate (No offence) I figured I'd throw up a suggestion that can cover the opinions of both me and him.

I'll give it a test, see if I can confirm Moogley's results, I've got the same GPU set up, 7950 DD Crossfire, I have a 4.8GHZ 2500k.

Could always use this testing as an excuse to get a 3930k and board, see if going from 2500k to the extreme changes things :p

Again rusty im not mal x at all just because you have enemies don't think im them! So another person says he thinks 20fps is too much but you target me? Your the biggest hypocrite going mate.

Ok 2700k @ 4.5ghz Crossfire 7950's @ 1200/1600 1080p 120Hz all ultra/max with 4 x AA.

The min I saw was 71Fps again this was a not very busy area ? Again I will check this later on the video when I compile and arrange it all.

This is a 3Fps increase from the 2500k at the same settings but I would expect at least an 8-10Fps increase if it was quicker. 3Fps is well within my tolerances tbh.

Will now have a quick go with Hyperthreading disabled.

That would be cool as I'm all BF3'd out tbh... I'm so fed up of it now it could be 1000 fps for all I care.... :D

I'm just trying to answer the O/P's question of whether a 2500K would bottleknect a 7970 and so far I'm saying no not even close not on BF3 anyway.

Well im on my phone atm so sorry if something doesn't make sence auto correct is annoying.

And im from newcastle to prove im not mal x my point still stands your just being moody and raging because you own an i7 and i don't :/
