I5 2500k bottleneck for 7970?

Really ? I'm loving the DD's.. At 1200/1600 they get a little loud so I generally run them at stock.

Shame you got a bad one.
 
The 7970 DCII was silent, and I mean silent.

Even at stock the 7950 DD I have, even while it doesn't get hot, is still louder and hotter than my 7970 DCII was.

In general usage, I'll probably just leave my 7950's at stock.
 
Heuston we have an issue.....

Just disabled hyperthreading and now the pc will not boot. Just a black screen no beeps or anything. Bios re-set has not helped.

Going to re-seat the cpu and see if that helps.....

Yes mate no go. Re-seated and still no go. Looks like I might have killed my first cpu...... :D

Going to check the pins and bung the i5 back in and see if that works..
 
The worse performance you received when you turned off Hyper Threading was a sign dude, a sign from god.

Not looking good 2500k boots fine in the pc.

Going to test the 2700k in the wifes pc now but it's looking like I have my first Key Ring... :D

The Hyper Threading gods of battlefield 3 have spoken. Curse anyone who claims they get worse performance in bf3 with it enabled. :o
 
Im happy I have contributed towards your 1st messed up cpu :D Nah haop it will turn out well.

Anyway 7970 ordered coming in Thursday. Will do the sharqi bit myself also.

In my opinion a i5 2500k at 4.5 and up shouldnt be bottlenecking. We are talking bout a Dice/EA game afterall and it seems just bad coding from time to time.

Would get a huge framedrop on Scrapmetal if you looked at the fire from the shot up fueltank. This seemed to be fixed later on though.
 
Lots of beeps when I put in in the wife's pc...

It's dead Jim. Can't RMA as it was given to me. I think I will turn it into a little monument and mount it onto something as a desk ornament...
