Hi guys i just recived my new laptop and i am going to replace the hdd with a nice fast samsung ssd .

Now the laptop has windows 7 home premium sticker with serial on the bottom ,i dont want to clone the drive as its full of crap software im never going to use .

I want to do a fresh install can i do that with using the code ?

Forgot to mention i only have a windows 7 pro disc so will need a home premuim iso if anyone knows were i could find a legal copy IM NOT ASKING FOR A PIRATE COPY

From what i "THINK" Correct me if im wrong. All Windows 7 CD's can be activated with any key it'll just limit what you can do on the OS depending on what key you have.

Or am i wrong?

Oh and yes it does have the coa sticker on base .Also has a microsoft office 2011 sticker so im guessing i can do that also .

You should be able to use the Office 2011 licence as long as you have the media to re-install it.

Is it a full version of Office or just a trial?

When I used a retail disk to install W7 Home Premium on my laptop using the laptops coa, I had to do a manual telephone activation. Automated phone call using lots of numbers!

He'll still have to use the code and activate in the normal way over the Internet.

That'll either work immediately or it'll tell him he needs to phone Microsoft (the automated process you refer to).

Ok guys. I have installed windows using the iso i downloaded from the link provided by Surveyor and it installed fine .

No i have typed in my code and the activator is saying its a invalid product key:confused: and there is also no option to use the automated phone service.

Never seen it behave like this before . Some help or advise needed here :confused:

Just been on the phone to microsoft and there refusing to activate the instillation .They said i need a oem version of windows and not a retail copy

Any ideas were i can find a legal oem iso of windows 7 64bit ?

Shouldn't really need oem version, they are pretty much the same thing, did you install the correct version you had before?
Normally you can do it via cmd prompt

Right-click the CMD.exe file and select Run As Administrator.
In the CMD window, type: slmgr.vbs -ipk <type your product key here>
To activate windows after changing the key, type: slmgr.vbs -ato

Most oem just use basically the same key on every laptop, what make was the laptop.
