A GTX 680 question

^I have a single 2420t set up atm and there is no noticeable improvement going SLI 680 on it.

In fact it's the opposite if anything, multiple gpus can be a headache. The experience is more seamless and transparent with a single gpu.

I know the diffrence between a 670 and a 680 performance wise.
And I was looking for a yes or a no answer to my question, not a lecture on my cluelessness.

Don't bother with the lightnings I'm not sure you'll be able to get the full benefit out of them.

Look at the EVGA FTW or Gigabyte WF 3x or MSI Twin Frozr's.

Would save your money and get a 670 as well and overclock it up. Overclocking is easy on 600 series.

The reason I am asking about multiple gpus is because one 690 is meant to be under clockered but yet gives an fps improvement over a 680 ?

So all I am trying to ask is, will 2 680s give me more fps like a 690 gets more fps ? and no one can seem to give me a direct yes or no.
2 680s is the equivalent of 1 690 right ?

How would I fully benefit from two lightnings ?
All I want is a direct answer really, will 2 lightnings give me an fps increase , as much fps or more fps than a 690 ? (I possibley will over clock them, most likely)

I can't understand why people just can't seem to give me a simple yes or a no.
2 680's are the equivalent of a single 690 I hear , better clocked and not under clocked like a single 690..

Here's a sort of direct direct answer:
Yes two 680s will be able to render more fps than a single 680.

(99% of the time) 1% = compatibility issues inc SLI issues, running out of vram, or games so old that they are rendered at a gajillion fps already.

Be clear on what you're asking an you'll get a clear answer...

Lightnings are the best 680's but they have extra tweaking options for advanced users. If you're not an advanced user it's probably better you leave them alone and stick with a standard 680 as mentioned above.

With regards to FPS differences... You aren't going to notice the FPS difference between a good 670 and 680 never mind a normal 680 and a lightning. As I said they're for people looking to get the utter maximum from their set up.

Two 680's in SLI are faster than a 690. A stock 690 is roughly equivalent in performance to 670 SLI. I hope this illustrates to you that 670 is nVidia's price/performance sweet spot and that you should strongly consider this as opposed to blowing an extra £80-£10 for an extra 5% performance :).

Use the money saved on an SSD, a 120 Hz monitor, 3D kit, or whatever takes your fancy.

With GTX 690s it comes down to the silicon lottery. Most of the time a pair of overclocked GTX 680s will beat an overclocked GTX 690 but not always.

Yes, I am aware that the 670 is the Nvidia sweet spot, But still 2 680's must be worth it , as I am planning on buying 2 to get 690 type performance.

Lol, i have just read this thread and am annoyed at you without even having posted to help like these other guys. You got all narky at them about 'not giving a clear answer' when u had not asked a clear question in the first place.

You have now been told repeatedly that at your resolution you will see no real benefit over the 670s and yet you are apparently set on the 680 sli 'must be worth it'....yeah well i reckon if u went for 3 cards that would be like, 1.5 x better than a 690 so prolly worth it too.

Sorry for the long non constructive post but seeing people trying to help you and you just apparently ignoring everything they say is really frustrating.
