Just arrived in Bangkok for three nights and staying in Le Fenix hotel just outside the centre. We are going to get prices today for a trip to the floating market tiger temple and to the river Kwai, is there anything else I should make sure I do?

Go back in time and work out where you want to go and why?

Alternatively - or additionally, if you get time - find radox and give him a proper shoeing for being such an odious oik.

Go watch some Thai boxing
Visit Dusit zoo
Visit the Siam Paragon mall - theres a 4d cinema , a really good aquarium, lots of posh shops
Hire a tuktuk for a city tour and hold on for yiur life
Golden palace

There's Lots more just look on google

Signal for a blow, steal a monkey, get shot, get your back doors smashed in by a ladyboy, meet Interpol, get a face tattoo, cut your finger off, crash a speedboat into a beach and get married.

Kanchanaburi (river kwai) is good, but as you don't seem to have planned it very well, get an organised tour or you'll be wasting a lot of time trying to work out where to go and what to do.

wouldnt be the first ocuker :p

the last one was asking how he gets the photos removed from google images and someone found them :D

Need more info.

I wouldn't bother with the Palace, it's around 450 baht each to get in (and you have to hire clothes if your shoulders, knees, clevage, or shorts aren't long enough). Opposite though is Wat Pho (pronounced What Po). Where the reclining Buddah is, it's well worth a look. 100 baht (£2) to get in and includes a bottle of water. If you're around that area watch out for pick pockets and people who try to distract you. When around by the palace people (not Thai's) will come up and say... Where you going? The Palace? You might as well wait an hour, it's closed for a religious Thai ceremony. Why not go over on a boat ride. They'll be patting your arms etc whilst talking to you. They are either a) trying to rob you, or b) trying to get you to go on an overly expensive boat ride. When you get near the palace you'll hear a tannoy which repeats every minute saying "do not talk to people who are trying to dsitract you, the palace is always open..."

The boat rides are expensive, but if you go up a pier and get the standard boat (the ones which the Thais use to commute to work) you'll save about £15 at least.

We stayed in Sukhumvit in bangkok, there's a place called "Bed Supperclub" which is AMAZING. The food is out of this world. This is in Sukhumvit 11. Expect to pay 1300-1400 baht for 4 courses.

At Sukhumvit 15 you have a restaurant called Cabbages and Condoms, this is also amazing (just not as nice as bed), and it'll cost you a fair bit less and there's a huge choice of food. It's a charity based restaurant (hence the name). The person who set it up says that condoms should be made readily available as cabbages in the third world, hence the name. It's about half way down Sukhumvit 15, so don't worry about going down the road if you go, as it looks as though you're going no where, it's on the right.

use the BTS to get around, it's super easy, they run every 1-2 minutes and it's very hard to go wrong.

If you're there on Saturday, check out Jatujak market (BTS to Mo Chit, get off, cross the huge park and it's the biggest market you'll see). It's not even filled with the same stuff, it's amazing. Make sure you get a map (it's free) as you will get lost, it's that big.

Where you going after Bangkok? I came back just under two weeks ago, went for 3 weeks in Thailand with the wife for our honeymoon :)

a sympathetic mod deleted the thread , it was probably 2 years ago now.

Maybe a mod goes to bangkok a lot to :p

We are staying on sukhumvit 11 so will deffo keep an eye out For bed supperclub. Ended up crashing out for a few hours before after the flight so just went and got a few prices for the day trip to the places I mentioned before, which were priced between 2000 and 2400 baht pp. After our stay in Bangkok we are traveling on to koh samui for 11 nights and going to travel over to koh phangan for the moon party which should be fun.

Sukhumvit 11 is where we stayed (Aloft), It's right at the top of the road. Bed is opposite (you will need to book!). It's the building which is shaped like a cylinder on it's side. Really weird but amazing.

Try cabbages and condoms, it's down the bottom of the road towards BTS Nana, take a left, go over the bridge and you'll see a sign down the road but in the sky. Head down that road for 5 mins and it's on the right.

Koh Samui for 11 nights is a bit much, there isn't that much there. We stayed for 4 nights in Buddy Oriental. Then went to Koh Tao for 4 nights. Koh Tao was much better and is easy to get took. A company called Lomprayah (think that's the right spelling) offers reasonably cheap high speed catamaran. If you're struggling to get to Samui (it does have it's own airport) then you could always do what we did and get a sleeper train down to Surat Thani, then bus to the pier, then catamaran. If you check www.nokair.com you'll see flight prices to either Surat Thani or Samui.

The palace is OK but once you've seen a few things it's all pretty much the same. We got bored of visiting temples pretty quickly.

You can ride on the Death Railway near Kanchanaburi which is something I never got around to doing whilst there due to planning so you probably won't have time to do it either :p

The bridge on the River Kwai is cool and you can do boat tours down the river etc.

In Bangkok its self as mentioned :- go to Thai Boxing shows, sex shows (if you are with a couple of mates so you aren't an easy target..!), get wrecked on Khaosan Road, go and eat/drink in one of the posh sky bars like on The Hangover 2 if you have smart clothes. Visit Patpong. Boat tours on the river. Look for a shooting range and fire big guns?

I think it's called the Sky Lounge (original eh?) which was in the film. It's real towards the grand palace and Wat Pho.

Go to the huge weekend market. Get the the skytrain to Mo Chit(I think it's the last stop on the north line), then walk down the stairs on the left and you'll be surrounded by thousands of people going to the market. Prepare to get lost and buy loads of stuff you didn't think you needed.

Go to Soi Cowboy, which should be walking distance from where you are.

Buy a taser from a street stall.
