Just ordered a Gigabyte HD 7950 WF3...

Very strange . Gpuz is telling me i have F2 bios but i bought my card back in late March and have not updated it myself .. Is there any other way of checking my bios ?? Also F2 is suposed to be voltage locked , mine is not .

my asic is 81.0% is that good or bad

Its neither good or bad. Asic just represents how much voltage your card needs to run at the specified clocks.

Higher asic means less leakage, lower power consumption but higher temps. Lower stock voltage.

Lower asic means more leakage, more power consumption but lower temps because of the voltage leakage. Higher stock voltage.

It all depends on the silicone lottery, asic only plays a small part and thats only dependant on how good your chip is and how much voltage it needs to be stable.

Thanks for the info NinetyOne, on the weekend I'll sort out the airflow in my case and maybe open the office window and see how far I can push my card.

Really happy with it so far though. I think when I get hold of Farcry 3 I will need every mhz I can get :)

1100 core at 1.13v is great and I need 1.18 for that.

I must admit my 1000 core and 1575 memory on mine at stock runs real cool, quiet but best of runs every game at max.

Pretty sure people's memory overclock depends on the memory chips used?.

I need 1143 to be stable at 1150/1800 at any game I play and heaven stress testing. But for some strange reason bf3 artifacts a bit at those settings and I need 1175 v for it not to artifact. - quite a big gap from 1143 to 1175 for it not to artifact in bf3.

well if you check reviews from places like techpowerup or hexus, there's a vrm heatsink missing in the top left of the board (ram vrm) that is covered by all other aibs other than asus, which as i mentioned had vrm temp and voltage locking issues since launch at the start of the year. gigabyte's core vrms also have the flimsiest heatsink of any cooler i've seen (just now reminded myself of this after googling).

i've just googled for user reports and there are a few links on the first page where people are concerned about gigabyte vrm temps, around 100 degrees or higher. i mean they could easily be the exception, but i decided not to take the risk when i bought my card. ghz edition design can be seen on newegg (they never released reviews), and it's the same.

i dont spose you could give me a link to a pic where this issue is visible could you, i am on my phone and its a nightmare for things like this . pc out of action at the moment
