34 in a 30 seems harsh but doing the course for that should have taught you something
It didn't so therefore 42 in a 30 is no excuse. 40% over the limit, similar speed would be 100 on a motorway.
 
Mobile vans are great because nobody expects them to be there. Its just stupid how everyone just slows down for a static speed camera then speeds up again when they go past it.
 
Seems a bit stupid for people to actually be having a go at the OP! Without knowing the road, the area then 42 could be a 100% perfectly safe speed! Then again it may not, we just don't know.

Jumping to assumptions is fun though right guys?

In the eyes of the law, no. But it terms of safety, just because the speed limit is 30, doesn't automatically mean that 30 is the fastest safe speed. So many speed limits are just completely ridiculous for the road they're used on.

No Children or Dogs were present.

I am not friends with Jimmy Savile nor have I helped Ted Bundy.

I drive to the conditions at the time. In this case, it was sunny, little traffic and little risk.

At the same time, if the conditions were outside a school and the speed limit was a 20.. Id be doing 10-15.

Driving to the conditions instead of the speed limit, in my experience, not only proves to be more sensible. But also forces your to be much more aware of your surroundings and less likely to drift into your own world.

Que disagreement.

The op said he was doing 42 in a 30 zone. There is no maybe its a safe speed. He was over the defined limit.......:rolleyes: the conclusion is he was over the limit.

I never said he wasn't over the legal speed limit, he admitted he was. What I'm saying is that it is perfectly possible that it wasn't dangerous.
 
The idea of a "speed limit zone" is to do that speed limit, just because you were a few meters into it doesn't make it any better, you should have already slowed down before you entered.
 
should have told them you only made a slight mistake because you were drunk, very drunk. they cant argue with that excuse.. a quick caution and your on your way....
