Over the past couple of weeks I've received huge amount of junk emails to one particular email. I know most people will accuse me of leaving my email at some dodgy site but its not the case this time round.

The email account is from Hotmail and i mark every junk mail as junk/phishing scam yet they still come through. I know this is not a cure as they obviously use different addresses etc. but is there anything else to block this nuisance? The emails seem to originate from one place as the theme and template is similar, the usually PPI claim, credit card, loan, grow your manhood to the size of a whale etc.

My Hotmail is plagued with this stuff too. Gmail on the other hand is fantastic. I think it's just simply down to MS doing a **** poor job at filtering junk.

Pretty much this. I've had a hotmail account since the early msn days and it was always raped by spam email. Use gmail now and don't get anything unwanted.

im also having the same issue. been happening for last couple of weeks and blocking them isnt doing the trick as well. not too sure if theres anything else we can do

Yep, same, my hotmail is plagued with them, my gmail is fine. Getting to the point where I am considering unlinking my hotmail from my phone because the alerts are getting so aggrivating :(

Don't have an issue here (MSN), all the junk mail goes straight into the junk mail folder as it's supposed to.

Sounds like only Hotmail is affected and that includes me. :(

Does anyone know if you can block extensions? I.e if the address is something like [email protected], if I can block the @fakenamehere.com bit because i'm getting a **** load of e-mails from the following addresses:

@sackunite.com
@rodcling.com

And all the names will be spammy crap like 2ygv2y322yugv3@ those e-mail addresses.

Brand new outlook.com address had spam in it before I even used it for anything else you just pretty much give up with it these days.

Is it possible to send my Hotmail through Gmail thereby taking advantage of Gmails better spam filters, sorry for n00b Q ;)

You can. Go to Gmail settings and add account. It won't be push though, I think Gmail will poll the Hotmail address every 15mins or something.

I've started getting all this stuff to, from multiple places including rodcling and sackunite. one way to deal with it is:

Options > More Options > Rules for sorting new messages.

then from there add what you want.

But then each email would be from @hotmail.com and would not been seen as spam by the gmail filters.....right?

No, GMail will be polling the account in the same way as a email client does so the email you would see in GMail would have the original addressing. It's not Hotmail forwarding the email to GMail.

I also get lots of spam, upwards of 7-8 every day, like the op I block every one but I still get the same ones through.

I'll try the suggestions posted.

i have two hot mail accounts one is plagued with spam but the other is fine.

you must have given some site your email and then it gets passed around and passed around.
