upgrade time?, gtx 670/680/690?

That's a positive point that AMD aren't pushing devs to cripple performance for team green.;)

:D

lol fair point. :D

It makes me smile seeing the AMD logo pop up when the game starts and know that I am getting better performance than AMD owners :p I know they will get it sorted but I will have my moment and savour it.

The vram disagreement we had was strictly vram, nothing was mentioned in that thread about the memory bus, in other threads when I stated that it could be a combination of vram/memory bus, you disagreed at the time and said it didn't matter, that's what I'm talking about and what I originally pointed out in this thread.

I'm not stupid I can read without the annoying bolding and underlining :).

I never said that the memory bus made no difference. At the time of disagreeing it is quite possible that the (comparatively) poor drivers meant that the faster memory bus made no difference overall to a decision when purchasing between 7900 and 670/680... but as a point of fact I would never have said that it made no difference as when you apply AA and move to higher resolution of course it makes a difference.

Again speaking theoretically: if you rearranged the AMD cards with 2GB and a 256 bit bus they would have performed worse than their nVidia comparatives historically. Now it seems that both brands cards are performing round abouts where they should be based on the hardware itself.

So I'm still not entirely sure exactly what you were pointing out when you originally responded in this thread. Did you have the wrong end of the stick? It seems so.

The underlining and bold was so that you addressed what I was talking about instead of going on roundabouts.

Nvm, you are never wrong on the forum mate, it's all one.:)

@Greg, suck it up and enjoy mate-at least you can add that one title to the scant few others that Nvidia have the edge on now.

Each time I replied was actually right on point.

Well if we're talking about basing something on fabricated things that I've "said" then yes you're right... I am always right :).

That hurts Tommy...You cut me deep brah....real deep :p

You can add it to the long list of Borderlands 2 and Skyrim.... and..... not much else anymore! :(

At least you can be safe in the knowledge that your overall triple screen experience is a bit nicer/cleaner than the equivalent experience with AMD even if game performance is a little bit slower.

To be fair to nVidia they are getting close to the utter max out of their hardware and have done from the off this generation and that should be commended.

I have hitman down on the lowest setting and i still get and fps of 15-20, quite poor tbh.

I dont mind waiting until the next set of cards are out in march/april if thats when they come out?.

What about the 7990? is that coming out soon?.

silly question really, what about 2 6990 in quard fire?, as you can pick these cards up for £150-170 mark atm.

AC3 is NV title.

I read it as Hitman for some reason! Still I would like to see what it's like in a couple of months. There's no real logical reason I can think of for less VRAM usage on a card with more VRAM other than better driver optimisation.

The other way round makes sense of course.

If I was in your shoes I would either wait until next generation and suck up the poor performance in certain games while they resolve the driver issues or upgrade to 7950 CF now.

I would try one 7950 first to see how it performs though I would imagine you'll want two.

It will improve when AMD get on it (Hitman that is). The 7990 is out and is a dual GPU, single card soloution. None in stock or for sale here but they are about.

I was expecting to hear some news about the next gen by now but having to rely on old rumours stating March/April of next year IIRC.

Lol, you are an absolute diamond rusty.:D

It's not fabrication, I'm not into embarrassing my self with fabrication, I'll leave that for the kids in here.

It matters not a jot, it's moot for me as I won't be going down that route for at least another 10 years when I get the weans bedroom and turn it back into my toy room.:)

Gregster, how do you know you are getting better performance than amd counterparts.? Most online comparisons I have seen put amd ahead

Ermmmm because Tonester uses the same resolution as me and posted his results. I got more than he did without overclocking my GPUs at all. Sorry if this annoys you :D

No mate just wondering that's all, maybe the comparisons I saw were on old drivers :)
I trust user benches more than reviewers anyway

Ultra.
5760x1080
2x7970@1125/1575
3770k @4.6Ghz

Installed the 310.61 and big improvement. Also a note about the CPU at stock...Work it out for yourselves :)

Min. 28.466
Avg 44.573
Max 54.716

CPU at 4.6Ghz

Min 29.304
Avg 49.547
Max 120.338 (big spike at the end with 2 runs)

Goes to show the CPU makes a difference :)

As you can see, AMD have not optimised the game yet for CF (not sure for single cards) and when they do, Tonester will leave me standing (like he did in BF3).

When I overclock, I get a lot more fps also (can't remember off hand how much) and the game does look gorgeous :)

Cheers

Yeah the benches I saw were guru3d, showed a slight lead for amd for single cards at 1080p and 1600p but it's obviously different with crossfire.
