Audi owners in here!

Hi,

Rather than start a new thread looking to get a new car within the next few weeks maybe. Quote like the look of the A3.

Seem one which is 2009 1.9 TDI for about £9000. But it has 70,000 miles on it, best avoid one with such high miles ?

Very similar to this one:

You need to be properly desperate to own an Audi keyring to buy that - it's the worst A3 they do, with just 105bhp and an engine thats absolutely ancient.

Lol, blunt but thanks.

Now looking and tempted at getting a brand new A1 .....

I contemplated that, but to spec one up makes them cost a small fortune. The A4 worked out far better value.

Para, is there any reason you went with diesel? I saw a offer on a new black edition A4 1.8 TFSI - first thoughts were great until I saw it was well over 2 seconds slower to 60 - circa 10 seconds 0-60 apparently, while mine does around 8.5 or so. Strange... :o

The only thing with the A1 is that if you want options the dealer will charge for literally everything. There is a good buyers guide on the A1-forum.co.uk but a number of dealers seem to be a bit cheap: not including carpet mats etc even though they should be standard in the front.

I got mine on a good deal (around march they have some decent deals on new cars). If I was looking to buy one now, I'd set a budget and take a look at audi approved used to get the best model/spec you want. Though to be fair even my poverty spec Sport model comes with most the features I wanted anyway. :)

Why?

Buy a used Audi instead - loads more choice. The money you spend on a brand new A1 could buy a really nice spec current-gen A4 with a decent engine in it.

Complicated.... But where I live and park my car can only fit a fairly small car which annoyingly limits my options.

Really narrow road to get to my house and then a tight 3 point turn means any large car is a no go. Guess that's the trade off for living in town.

Will you streetview this? I suspect you are being a girl and you can actually manoeuvre and park a Phantom down there. I drive a fairly big car and I've never been unable to get it down somewhere/park it.

lol .... yeah well just because I like the A1 .... ;)

Anyway here is streetview, and does get a bit narrower as I drive down but you sort of get the idea.

I suspected you would play the truculent card. I was right.

Satisfying outcome :p

Been out in a 6 month old A4 2.0 Tdi tonight...think it was the same spec as yours (se tech). I found the interior a nice place to be, decent enough leather seats, climate, nav, MMI (where ID tags actually work lol) and the rest. :o

One thing I could not stand is the vibrations. Engine noise or at least noise cancelation was surprising good but everything, gear stick, door arm rests, visors literally the lot was vibrating - not so much that you can really hear it but you can definitely notice it on the floor carpets and armrest etc...would drive me insane, but the car does like 30k miles a year so fair do's. :)

Can't say that mine vibrates anything other than the gear stick. Certainly not that I've noticed anyway. That said, mine has done < 200 miles so far, so things might loosen up.

This is what I can't stand about the 4 cylinder diesels either. They all do it, even though many owners will swear blind they don't and it's as smooth as a V12 inside or something.

The 6 pots are generally much much better in this regard.

Whilst I have no doubt that mine will loosen up and things may start to vibrate, I can assure you that right now it's smoother and less vibration filled than my 330d was.

Given your 330d had the worlds first 6 cylinder commonrail diesel engine fitted to a passenger car in it, released 13 years ago, I'm not really sure whether that really changes what I'm saying. Infact perhaps the fact its noteworthy that its better than a 13 year old design might even agree with me :p
