*** Official Nintendo Wii U thread ***

no you can't because Nintendo stopped making Wii games giving more dev time to Wii u while Sony supported both systems

So what exactly are you trying to say? Sony has more than one studio you know? It's not like every studio was developing for the PS2, there would have been many working on PS3 only titles...

if Sony stopped PS2 support like what Nintendo did with WII, remember Pikmin 3 was supposed to be a Wii game

God of war 2
Forbidden Siren 2
24: The Game
SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Combined Assault
Rogue Galaxy
Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3
Wild Arms 5

these games plus other third party games could have been PS3 games at launch

Had a play around on smbu at Nintendoworld, was kind of shocked by how cheap the gamepad feels, I can see a lot if these getting broken within 6 months, has there been a price announcement yet on a replacement?

Its a shame about the frames etc.
But they need to code games for the console, at the moment its making do with completely unoptimised code
Which is a shame.

Metro 2033 and Metro Last Light developer 4A Games says that the Wii U has a “horrible, slow CPU”

Akihiro Suzuki, who is working on Dynasty Warriors, mentioned that this weaker CPU is causing challenges when developing the game. “One of the weaknesses of the Wii U compared to PS3 and Xbox 360 is the CPU power is a little bit less"

:o

I’ll probably still end up buying the console when prices fall nearer £200.00 mark. :)

^^ never that easy unfortunately

the 2 key things - and I guess no-one yet knows whether the Wii U fits these but:

(1) balanced GPU and CPU - no point having an amazing GPU without a decent enough CPU to drive it (to enable data to get to GPU and also a lot of processing can't be offloaded). PC owners will know this balance is key - often your CPU can bottleneck the GPU or vice versa

(2) easy to develop for - developer tools etc - how easy is the device to program for.

Both of the above I think the 360 has been excellent at

I never said it would be easy, just that the potential will be there. I know we won't see many but I'm fairly sure we'll see a handful of games from clever developers which will have very impressive graphics. The GPGPU can perform calculations that would often be performed on the CPU and also the DSP sound chip hasn't been used yet which again will free up some CPU time when devs spend some actual time learning the consoles architecture.

Debating whether to cancel my pre order and put the money towards a gaming rig, after watching a few vids on YouTube dunno if I'm too impressed.

I didnt know you can use the wiiU controler as the screen to play the games, I just thought it was only used for crappy stuff like maps,

It's a amazing feature and one I'm going to be making use of a lot.

I'm probably going to pre order tonight but I can't decide which SKU to go for. I can afford the premium but I want the white console as it'll match my Dreamcast nicely but then I don't want a external HDD or USB pen connected...
