As my Sennheiser HD 600's are now showing there age, and the fact that they do not give out good enough bass, does anyone have any suggestions for a good replacement?

I am lucky enough to own ASUS Zonar Essence ST, so I already have a headphone amp if needed

I know that replacing my current model is a big ask, as the current pricing for these now are £100 more than I paid at the time. If I put a price on it, say the £100-£200 price bracket, but can be more if needed

Depends really on what sort of sound you are looking for, you say your 600s aren't giving enough bass. Are bass heavy headphones what you are after? Have a look at Beyerdynamic DT770/880/990.

They will be used for gaming as well as music. The headphone amp on the sound card makes these sound amazing, but when it comes to listening to some dubstep, for example, the bass could be a lot better, to the point where my in-ear Westone 3's have a lot better bass

HD600's, while great headphones really are not suited to bassy music. Denon D2000's would be a good choice, but you'd likely have to look at used pairs as Denon have discontinued them. Beyerdynamic's would also be a good choice, as already mentioned.

Check in HMV, got mine for £99 a few months ago.

Love the Denon D2000, truly excellent with DnB and bass heavy music, plus you can easily modify them for all round improvements (See head-fi).

D7000's, look wonderful, but retail in the UK at £800!?

How comes they are so expensive here, when in the US they retail for $1000, when other places over there sell them for a lot cheaper?

Even when I tried to look for these in the UK, there does not appear to be any sites they are stocking them, so cannot see if this price has fallen considerably since the initial pricing. But have seen some second hand pairs go for somewhere in the region of £350-ish

Saw them brand new on a certain website, that sells Simply Electronics, where the price is currently £649.95. Is this too good to be true I am wondering?

DanceMB, why don't you consider a set of Hifiman headphones, like the HE-400's

Oops sorry, just read your whole OP, you have a budget of £200. Or has that changed? I just look at your last post and you are considering headphones for £650?

It all depends what sort of budget I would need for decent headphones, that will last a long time, like these current HD600's have lasted me. I dont have "the skies the limit" right now, just need a general idea for something that is in your face bass, but is perfect on all other settings at the same time

I just ordered some Beyerdynamics DT770 80 ohm Pro's, from the reviews they should have good bass, some people say too much, the 250 ohm is said to be more balanced.

These are really a step below your HD600's, maybe the HD650 has more bass?

What are you driving them with? A headphone amp could give them a nice boost. I also just ordered a EHP-O2 headphone amp to drive the DT770.

i'd hardly say teh hd600 are showign there age ....... they will still trounce almost anything in the price range . they were never ment for out and out bass . that was what the hd650 were for ;)

ive got the hd600 myself ( had them 3 or 4 years now ), with a mf-vdac and grahamslee solo srg11 headphone amp and if i ever replace these cans i'll be looking and the £600 mark as unless they get to unfixable im more than happy with what i got

i just replace the main lead as it got damaged , and will have to replace the earpads as are wearign out .. but when i looked at getting the same set or even the hd650 i was surprised they are even more expensive now :(

At the time I purchased these Dubstep did not even exist lol. I have these plugged into the ASUS Essence ST, which does make them sound beautiful.

There is 2 things I would need that would make these the perfect answer:
1) Legit site to purchase replacement foam headband (got squashed after a home move)
2) Bass button, or any device that gave these the extra bass I am chasing after

At the time, these headphones was top of the range, no others existed at the time

Denon discontinued all of the X000 headphones.

The new flagship is the D7100 - £1000

and they have a few other sets as well - not sure if I like the new styling though! The D2000's have been my favourite headphones so far, Ihad some HD650's but they just weren't as fun.

i'm trying out my new pair of senn hd 598 that i picked of amazon for a ratehr good price of £129 .....came today so breakign them in . they will be my reserve pair ... they sound good so far using my hi-def material on pc .. think they might be bassier than teh 600's but not done a swap comparision yet . will have to give them a good 200 hr run-in before i make my mind up on good they are compared to the 600's tho

ok .........i thought the 598 were good .. but just did a test of a track from micheal jacksons dangerous album ...

listening to "keep the faith" and at teh 4 min mark where the choir realy kicks in with instruments the 598 REALLY puts voices and instruments at a certain point in my hearing perception. the drums are specific in direction .....when i tried the same segment on my hd600 that just isn't there ...i'm shocked tbh ... these are sounding liek a good bargain atm
