Returned my Lumia to P4U today :(.

None of the unlocking places are going to be useful for a few weeks. I'm probably going to get a Lumia directly from EE and a SIM-only for 3-4 months, get it unlocked, and set up text/call forwarding from my current 3 phone.

@gilesjuk I know all that, I was just experimenting :). When Nokia was showing the prototype it could totally take pictures in complete darkness so it's only natural to want to try it.

I've done so in the dark, you can get an image but it's not in focus. I've done similar with my SLR with the same results.

Optical image stabilisation gives you around two f stops. So the 920 could in theory capture as much as a f1.4 lens.

yes im sure :) its always been like that with Windows and same with Windows 8. sure you can download it and burn it to a media or USB but that is to kick start the installation process, in this case an upgrade.

I got the £25 upgrade from microsoft, if you choose the install later from DVD option you can boot from the disc and do a clean install. This is what I did and you get all the options to delete/create/format partitions as you would with the full version. I did a clean install my self as I not a fan of upgrading existing OS's.

Still not sure you could dual boot it though but can't see why not.

That's my point I did a clean install on a new partition with the £25 upgrade version, therefore it has not upgraded anything. If you can install it onto a new partition or drive then in theory there is not reason you can't dual boot.

good view/point but nope :) lol.

I think in the situation you are best to upgrade your main system memory, and use a VM to do the development on and install Win8 on that (even if its a trial version). also means your machine will be more beefy and future proofed for mem hungry apps and development

But if you can install it to a different hard drive leaving the original installation intact them why can you not dual boot?

The only problem I could foresee is whether Microsoft deactivates your original licence.

because an upgrade means to upgrade your existing installation. if there is the option of installing it on a different partition then what would probably happen is the previous OS version would be removed/upgraded from to the new partition

Really, you can use a partition on the £25 upgrade, is it an option when you upgrade, or do you need to do any setup yourself?

I much prefer the sound of having it partitioned.

Just upgrade it coward! :D

Anyhow....bit off topic here. Should get back to the 920....

Anyone found some good shots of the Grey/Matte? Might switch from white to grey if it becomes available before my pre-ordered white is due.

I've done it!! On it now!!

The desktops basically exactly the same as Windows 7, without the start menu (which IS going to get put back in).

Not sure if it's still doing stuff, but it doesn't seem that smooth on the ol 2.4GHz i3.

Gunna start Visual Studio tomorrow and crack on with the C#.

EDIT: Running super smooth now, seems to me marginally faster too. Quite happy with W8 now.

It's "low light" not "no light". So remember that if you can't do it on an SLR you aren't going to be able to do it on this phone.

The flash assist helps with focus, so you really do need to leave that on. But the main flash can be turned off.

I have the assist light on,the flash off and when i take a picture in low light it comes out dark.i have to mention that all my settings are on auto.do i have to play with the settings to get it to to work properly.
If so can you share the settings with us.

Thanks

Yeah I did a clean install, not an upgrade using the £25 download. Given that the install using this method allows you to re-partition and format a drive, you can probably dual boot it. The download is the full media, the license is an upgrade license.

However this doesn't make it legal, your license is now for Windows 8, therefore your Windows 7 license is technically no longer valid.

The only problem I could foresee is whether Microsoft deactivates your original licence.

Wouldn't be surprised if this was the case, it seems to build the iso using aspects of your current windows installation, such as if it was 32bit or 64bit. So it stands to reason it would remember your previous windows key and thereafter deactivates it. Pure speculation of course.
