Jobcentre Plus website

Anybody else notice a change in the website ?

i'm trying to look for jobs like i used but can't even find the site anymore

really odd !

They've changed it so job searches can be tied in to jsa claimants.

It's horrid, another several million down the drain no doubt.

Same address as ever though the site has totally changed.
Hopefully not plumped with month old jobs long gone anymore.

Yeah I was helping some of my clients to register on Universal Jobmatch the other day and it has plenty of 'features'. It has some potential to be good but their belief that everyone is just going to be able to register and hit the ground running is nothing short of lunacy. There are a significant number of people out there who just don't have enough basic IT skills to know what they are doing.

The registration process is a nightmare. For anyone registering all I can say is "PRINT OFF YOUR ID NUMBER". There is a point at which you have to close your browser down to get some changes to take effect and this means you lose your ID number if you haven't noted it down. It doesn't email it to you and retrieving it afterwards is a process that will be via snail mail and will take up to 7 days.

The instructions do not match the actual process required to register which is just daft.

use total jobs its far better and simpler. one click applies once you cv has been uploaded

If you are a jobseeker, you won't have an option but to register for UJ. It isn't up for discussion and sanctions will follow for those that don't do it. :(

The problem is it's going to be compulsory for claimants to use this Universal thingy, so they can keep check that you are actually applying for jobs I believe.

I prefer reed myself but there we go ;p

Used to check the old site every so often just to see if the grass is greener etc, apart from the lack of "sort by date order" it's only taken a couple of minutes to change my routine and the results are quicker to search through. As a casual user it hasn't really made a difference and will hopefully never have to use it as a "client".

It's not compulsory at the moment. It will be in the future.

Again I say tell that to my clients. What their advisers tell them is often what goes...

ahh the jobcentre, where craps made up on the fly depending on who you see

as for the new site its a bit better but still bloated with multiple agencies claiming to have jobs that don't exist.

as well as the idiotic self employed ad's for wine.
