*** League of Legends ***

I'm fearful of my first few ranked games when S3 starts.. (I'm not ready yet as I'm only level 28 - though one game from 29)... if my first game involves feeders I will not soloq again. :L

I've had a few ranked games in S1 and S2 but it has taken over 1400 games for me to feel I'm good enough to play in ranked as my main game type. My friend hit 30 and started doing ranked straight away, he dropped loads of ELO lol.

The thing about ranked is that's all it is, ranked. There's no difference between that and any other game types.

If you're supposed to be at a low ELO, you'll get there. Same with high. It's just a ball ache on the way, I get demoralised then don't play as well when people start trolling and I find that effect worse in ranked games than normals.

Currently sat at 1300 ELO, I'm 10-6 though so hopefully that'll go up.

Well while you say it's just ranked, you can only get the end of season skins if you reach gold or higher which only 2% of the player base ever reach. I was gutted in season 1 that I was one win away from being gold and came up against saintvicious two games in a row and got destroyed and that blew my season out of the water as I played so bad after that. I'm a skin collector so I want to hit gold purely for the skin they give out at the end of next season.

Also I feel I'm a better player than most people I play in normals, so I want to try and get to a higher ELO to try my hand out against higher ELO players on a more regular bases. I've done about 40 ranked games now and I really struggle to play normals now as I don't really care if I win or lose. It doesn't mean I feed or anything but I don't get as annoyed if I lose anymore.

I'm not fearful of my own ability as I've been thrown into this game with lots of friends with 1k+ wins and have been playing normals with them since the beginning - so my first 20 or so games were of negative value, but then I started to gain a real understanding of how everything works. Now I'm at the point where I want to get out of my 'win bracket' so that I can play with people of my skill level, because I still am finding games with fools who don't even understand the meta...

I'll probably be duo-queuing for ranked games or so, and I'll start playing with the OcUK guys when I hit 30.

Dude the biggest mistake any LoL player makes is playing ranked the second you hit level 30. No offense, but unless you have extensive Dota experience you're simply not good enough to play ranked with only 150 normal wins. Unless you don't care about dropping to 1000 Elo instantly, play more normals. Lots more normals. Like, get to 800 wins. Then you'll be good enough to get past the 1400 mark very quickly.

It's not about who you've been playing with or against, it's literally all about the amount of practise you have had. That's all that matters. I've seen people quit the game due to frustration of not being able to break past 1300 elo. And the worst thing is they all think it's their teammates fault. It's never your teammates fault in the long run. I'm not saying don't play ranked. If you decide to play ranked the day you hit level 30, just keep in mind that it's very likely you will have to play about 400-500 games of ranked before you start making significant progress. If you can accept that, then play ranked all you want. If you think that's going to frustrate you, play normals.

Or do what I do - hook up with a good team with the same type of attitude and form a ranked team. Load of fun and both our ranked teams are doing far better this season. Really enjoying the ranked team play to the detriment of any other type of lol play

um so i was literally just playing a game and got a reconnect error so closed LoL - went back in to find the game had ended (no way it could have on its own merit as most towers were still up)

game just seems to have crashed? isnt on my match history either.....

Do they do 3 player ranked games? I don't understand the difference between normal and draft pick when creating a game. I always just play normal with a couple of mates

You can create a team of 3 and play in the 3v3's. In terms of the different modes:

Blind pick, all champions available no champions of the same in each team. Each team does not see what has been picked till the game starts

Draft, 3 champions banned for each side (so up to 6 bans) then alternate picks, no champions the same in the game (as opposed to the team), Player rating hidden

Single/Duo Queue Ranked. As above with draft but you can only have yourself and a friend play (or just yourself). Team selected by rating and matched against an equivalent team. Your rating is visible to all if over a certain value (I think it is 1200). Prizes at the end of the season for higher performing players

Ranked Team. You create a team in the profile and then you play games in draft mode with players from the team. The team is rated as per their performance. You also have your game stats you see at the end of the game available. Teams are matched against other equivalent teams I think you can create up to 20 other teams. Prizes at the end of the season for higher performing teams

Above is mainly 5v5, teams can also be used 3v3 and have a seperate 3v3 rating

Happened to me the other day as well. Game started lagging then displayed the "Attempting to Reconnect" error so I closed the game only to find the Reconnect option was completely missing and there was no sign of the game in my match history. We had only just started to it seems that the game just disappeared!

Played a game last night with the biggest troll ever http://www.lolking.net/summoner/euw/21255716 - I havent seen anything like it.
I was garen bot (garen btw is a beast) with soroka support.

Seems this player seems to think hes coming up with a new meta game for support, heres what i had to put up with:

1. Always hitting minions and going out of his way to last hit them (up until 10 min mark he had more cs than me)
2. decided to attack the jungle aswell
3. bought 3 wards the entire game
4. bought items that were ap focussed not support or tank focussed.
5. fed 3 times early game - i got the blame
6. only spoke when he wanted to flame, never listened to me when i told him to gtfo.

so would you believe we actually won, I still dont know why, I think it was down to jsut me and talon getting some pretty early kill streaks that managed to drive us through.
needless to say I reported him - but wtf how can you play like that? Iv been down to ELO 600 and never seen a support that bad.

It's people who don't want to support. Because they never play it properly they feel it's a useless role so they just make a half arsed effort or just troll. They don't realise the impact you can actually have if you play a support well.

Support rocks. I love support Lux, Janna & Lulu.

Last night Lobster went 17/2/something in 20 minutes (surrender) as Vayne. I was support Janna. lol I rushed a Starks before I even had boots. Starks buff with my E buff, and Q to keep them off him and he was 1v3ing them on their own towers.
