Woman saves fox from hounds

Some interesting "facts" I've picked up from reading this thread.

1. Animal rights and welfare are subjective, presumably to whoever is committing the cruel act.
2. It's necessary for foxes to be killed (the evidence seems to point the other way, but screw that).
3. Secretly, we all love brutally murdering innocents.

Live and learn eh?

I've enjoyed killing a fox.

It was the third night of waiting after it got into our chicken pen and killed all twelve and took none, did it suffer? yes, the first shot only brought it down the second finished it off, I dug a hole and buried it at the side of the field.

Does this make me a bad person?

I'd go further to say

Animal rights/welfare are usually only considered when we have a better way or it won'taffect us too much
Ie ban hunting but animal testing is fine or eating meat

Killing Foxes can help protect your stock
But fox hunting with hounds achieves nothing.

I don't agree with the last one but some people do.
Maybe that is due to modern society, that most don't secretly love it, but can't separate ourselves from society

No because foxes are retarded and dont just take a chicken, the massacre the entire pen.

You have a valid reason to shoot it, its not a sport.

I'll question the stability, dare I say sanity of someone (only reference point is myself, because I know me best) who would actively relish and enjoy causing harm or death to the fox or any other animal for that matter, regardless of the circumstances.

I also enjoy shooting partridge, pheasant, duck, rabbits, crows, woodcock and pigeons, I enjoy being part of the syndicate I belong to, we buy 2000 pheasant poults in June feed, water and take care of them all year.

Oh, I guess that make it alright then.

Does that mean we should look favourably on the Nazis because they bothered to feed the Jews before they gassed them?

If slavery was legal, would you enjoy killing people that you've bought too, or does your enjoyment only come from killing defenceless animals? What is it about killing that you enjoy?

This tbh.

Stupid woman. While im not a fan of the way they still hunt them, they need to be kept under control like any other pest around such areas.

Strongly disagree!!! If anything humans are the pests that have taken over the whole planet. Where do you suppose these creatures live if we keep building and expanding upon there land? We are the ones invading land in which they call home to build our homes, towns and cities. Good for that woman - its nice to see someone with more than one brain cell who sees this so called sport for what it is.

It's probably and inadequacy complex thing with such types I would think. They can only impose their will on defenseless animals. Makes them feel the man.

Ugh, silly pompous old fools. It's kinda embarrassing that this still goes on, and don't give me that "we were just out walking the dogs when...".

The reason it still goes on is because the vast majority of people in the countryside (you know the place where the foxes are) support it, if it wasn't for the previous government going out of their way to appease the distaste of it by city folk who have mostly never seen a fox it would never have been banned.

Do you live in a tent? Otherwise I feel sorry for the worms that were destroyed to create your home.

No that's just a ridiculous comparison

What is it about killing that you enjoy?

The eating

I feel sorry for people that the only real contact with life is pulling the giblets out of a 2 for a fiver battery chicken and throwing them in the bin then arguing they care for animals

The eating

Don't try that, your syndicate buys animals so you can shoot them. You know full well you could buy the meat for cheaper and you wouldn't have to feed them etc. You do it the way that you do so that you can kill them yourself. So I'll ask again, what is it about killing that you enjoy?

I think you mean "contact with death". Killing defenceless animals for pleasure does not give you contact with life.

Like I intimated, it's just not my bag. I do not personally understand how pleasure can be derived from this kind of voluntary activity. Sure I've shot some guns in my lifetime - a few tin cans have felt my fury but what you describe is not how I would choose to spend my time. I do however respect your right to do what the laws of this land allow you to do.

The shooting, the skill, the animal husbandry, the outdoors, the boozing, the company, the firearms, the eating, the business etc

Very few of our 'bag' gets wasted, most go to the game dealer and most go to the continent for consumption. Rough cost for our shoot is £17 per bird which one could argue is a proper cost not £2.50 wrapped in shrink wrap.

It means you're crap at building chicken pens.
