Why are they not on channels 101 to 105? OK I know there isn't a BBC2 HD, but the other 4 have HD channels. All other channels on the Sky EPG have been moved around so the HD channels have taken to spot of the standard channels (Dave HD, Sky 1 HD, Discovery HD, etc), but the historical terrestrial ones are still all SD.

Its really annoying having to search through for them.

Interesting point. BBC One HD isn't regionalised for a start. Try explaining to my Mum why they'd get London today instead of North West Tonight. ;)

Yep its a pain but it's not just sky it's also the same on the inbuilt freeview on my tv, 1-5 are normal sd and 51 ect are the HD channels.

I don't think it's sky who set the channel numbers for them, what i've done is set up the HD channels on my favs ie the sky blue button. It makes it much easier to navigate:)

Yeah I know but they couldn't replace BBC2 at 102 with BBC HD.

Can they not broadcast the regional stuff in SD on the same feed as BBC1 HD for those programs that are regionalised? Or is it not that simple?

I'm not sure, just spoke to a mate and it seems the same on virgin.

As MagicBoy just said they've just changed it on freeview so with luck we might get an update on the sky EPG soon, there doesn't seem to be any recent threads on digital spy about it though.

Yes it is.
Or certainly is in NI now, since the 24th Oct and we were the last region to shunt over to digitial.

BBC HD channel will be becoming BBC 2 HD in the near future also.

BBC1 HD isn't regional for things like the news. When you get to the point of "getting the latest news where you are" you get a place holder advert telling you to turn to channel 101, or at least I do.

This is what favourites are for... or just remember the numbers! If you can't do either of these then you don't watch enough TV!

Its annoying for things like setting recordings. Open up planner, see something on BBC1 you want to record, then remember to go to HD channels to set the HD version to record.

If Dave can get the HD channel moved to the main spot, why can't BBC, ITV, C4 and C5?

Well we don't anymore, the placeholder went with the digital switchover on the 24th Oct in NI, the last region to move fully digital.
Your regions must be behind, as our freeview, and indeed freesat are now regionalised for all news broadcasts and local weather.
Odd as i thought we were the very last.

It's up to the channels in question and they declined. BBC one HD isn't regionalised so there's no local news n it. That's why. Same for other channels as well. Bandwidth reasons manly otherwise they'd need to launch individual HD channels for all the regions.

Is NI a single region for BBC though? I could see how they could manage that if it were the case.

Yes, yes it is.
Set a BTxx postcode into a freest box, or freeview setup and you should see regionalised bbc 1 hd.
I had no idea this wasn't the case elsewhere.
We can't get itv hd yet, as it will be utv hd eventually and outside of certain regions the itv contracting wouldn't allow it, so i've to tune to itv london and hit the red button to get itv1hd, or input a london postcode.

Thread revival.

With BBC2 HD replacing BBC HD next week, it means all 5 terrestrial channels will have HD versions on Sky. Any news on if this means they will finally be reordered to channels 101 to 105?
