I've never been able to whistle...this is a problem as I now have a dog and whistling is obviously important in getting a dog to respond.

How do you whistle?

Thanks

I can't do it either. I tried, but I gave up. I just shout at the dog "Hey! HEY RICHARD YOU HAIRY ******* GET OVER HERE!" It works sometimes.

You have to be careful with dog whistles, for them to react you have to be consistent and the pitch/length etc has to be the same, if you can't I suggest getting a proper dog whistle (not one which warbles) and use that to train them.

But make sure you lock it to keep the pitch the same.

Try using your fingers?

Just stick it in and blow but move your fingers around until you hear a pitch and then hold that position.

I went through a phase when i was a kid learning to whistle and can do it with my lips, index and middle fingers on both hands, index and thumb and even just the little pinky.
