OCuk get stock of Seasonic

but people look to buy it due to silence, why not buy 1000W for similair price which would probably never turn on its fan, this would also leave you with tonns of head-room.

Its extremely reliable, very cool, excellent build quality, its Platinum certified and I bet has over 40 amps on the 12V rail.

I would just get this instead... doubt that it would be inferior in performance to 400W version.]

It would also be easier to re-sale in my mind, since you dont get many budget builds or home server willing to pull out 100+ on PSU

Ye well it will be a low load system.
Which is why I wanted the best psu at a low wattage.
400w I would consider low enough, and being on 24/7 and a platinum psu will have low leakage.
I also read that that cpu performs really well at low power levels, which helps as I'm building a low powered server to be on 24/7.

I have also looked at some 500w (or around there) Platinum and Gold psu's.
But this psu just fits the bill so right, with a single rail, and 6x Sata connections.
Fully modular, and great low power performance.

Yup it was that review that made me look more into it.
Then noticed they have a 400w version, so for my low powered server its better :)

My home server (WSE 2012) runs quite happily on a Pico 160, totally silent and tiny.

i3-2120T
Asus P8H77-I
8GB RAM
System drives - 2 x 250GB WD Black on JMicron hardware RAID controller
Storage drives - 4 x WD Green

Power from wall socket (measured):
Idle <30W
Prime 70 - 80W

Could have easily gotten away with a 120W Pico.

:D
