howdie, i packed in cigs about 2 months ago but still have stained teeth. Is there anything i can use which really works. And yes :) before u ask i brush my teeth twice a day. I do not want a trip to the dentist if i can help it.

bicarbonate of soda works quite well, its what the dentist used when cleaning my teeth I think. Im sure I have heard people using it as well as there toothpaste when cleaning to make them white, but I would check to make sure

Try Crest whitening strips.
I have had some success with these in the past.

I've used a few items over the years and have to say that 22% Carbamide Peroxide in the trays worked the best. I did like the Crest strips also.

I was bored one day and made my own mixture of hydrogen peroxide and bicarbonate of soda... it died my gums white for about an hour after brushing my teeth lol.

Janina Diamond toothpaste (now called Janina Extra strength whitening or something) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Janina-Extra-Strength-Whitening-Toothpaste/dp/B00742C4QK/ref=pd_sim_d_3

I use nothing else, it's the only thing that keeps my teeth stain-free (recommended by my dentist, it's not supposed to damage teeth over time).
Edit: You might find that electric toothbrushes have a negative effect. For some reason they don't clean stains for me, I have to use a manual toothbrush and apply pressure. I don't even smoke :(

mustard

dentists hate this secret tip, discovered by a single mother apparently

Actually, they use a type of wasabi mustard paste. I believe it to be a 80% mustard to 40% wasabi. There may be a 'stabiliser' in there, but I am unsure what it is. I never got to that part!

Don't appy pressure, you can damage your gums and wear away your enamel making it worse.
