Have I made A Mistake!!!

Either that or touch a radiator every now and then.

I used to do this ^

Then I thought about it.

Leave the PC plugged in, with the socket switched off and keep touching the case.

Exactly the same as wearing a wristband.

I find this extremely unlikely... I've been building PC's both personally and professionally for over 15 years and I've never once had a component fail due to ESD from not using an ESD strap...

unless the OP has wool socks and thick pile carpet and a habit of doing the moonwalk constantly while building computers, in which case I suggest you wear shoes or do it barefoot and touch a radiator with your hand once in a while rather than waste money on an ESD strap

if you are just doing mods you can even leave your PC plugged in at the wall but off at the PSU and just touch the case once in a while to ground yourself

+1 but I can probably go 20 years in building PC's :)

why didnt you just get them to send you a 7970 bosted edition lightning for the RMA? gotta be the closest replacement for the lightning and thats what i thought they had to do on a RMA either that or refund.

would have took the 7970 everytime personally.

The boosted edition just uses higher voltages from the off to get the higher core clock. The 680 Lightning is an awsome card and with it going under water, it can be over volted with a simple hack.

Tbh the 680 version is probably the better card, dual link dvi and the ability to actually over volt.

I'm leaning towards a 680 as a replacement my self tbh, but I'll likely have another 6 week's of waiting before I can make the call :p

It is a clockers card bro but my annoyance is not being able to clock the memory volts up :( I am sure there is a way and someone will find it (ABX is the only way I know of) but deffo more in the tank with these cards than we see.

Bios modding is coming a long way on the 600 series perhaps mem volt mod from bios?

I'm really not hopeful on having a new card before xmas.

Need to collar Bailey and see what I've actually been sent, not sure if original version or be, original has now been de-listed so obsolete now.

is touching the case to ground yourself not pointless on a case coated black inside like the haf x?

Nice and No bro, I have two of those babies :) Both under water and very easy to overclock. Slide the sliders and let me know how you get on. You will need to flash to another BIOS to unlock the +100Mv attribute in AB and only use AB 2.2.3 to use this feature.

I will post up the details in a bit bud.
