680 SLI 4GB - To surround or not to surround

I like eyecandy. I currently run 2560x1400 single screen for BF3 using 2 x 4GB EVGA 680s. I do have two Hazros at 2560 though.

My questions is; given that I love eyecandy, will I take an 'eyecandy hit' if I get another 27" 2560x1400 monitor and run surround. However will I offset this by having a super-duper surround setup?

Thoughts welcome

Thanks

I think you'll need a third card to drive triple 2560*1440 screens at a decent mix of settings.

Even two cards somewhat struggle (I say this relatively) to drive three 1080 screens and need eye candy to be sacrificed.

I tested 2 680s on 5760*1080 on a number of games and overall performance was pretty decent and where it wasn't there was often a balance that could be found between minimal image quality loss and better performance.

Triple 2560*1440 is going to require some serious GPU grunt to drive though - I wouldn't be surprised if you have to settle for no AA and High settings on most games.

As that kind of set up is fairly rare it's really quite difficult to find definitive information on it.

Good luck!

I ran TriSli 680 Classifieds for a while at 5760x1980 and struggled to max
everything out while maintaining 60fps plus in BF3.

So I would confirm what Rusty said - 3 Gpu's required.

A word of warning b4 the Classifieds I had 3 of your cards and the middle
card got cooked by the the other 2.

IMO you'll need to water cool your cards to run TriSli.
