Wasn't there a guy who built a house inside an existing barn because he couldn't get permission to build a house on that land but found some loophole that allowed to him to build whatever he wanted within an existing structure?

If you actually read the article you would see he didn't find a loophole in planning law but instead tried to get around it by hiding what he was building. He failed in his attempt and was ordered to demolish it.

Mixed emotion about it, on one hand its a great house, and i wouldn't wish the demotion order on him knowing what he will have gone through to build that. On the other planning laws are very important and allowing that to stay would open the flood gates. On balance i believe that is was certainly the right decision that it was ordered to be demolished.
