sub £100 tablet - that's any good?

i always preach get the nexus7, but this is for a friends kid who is 7, they want to get something for him to keep him off their pricey tablet and phones

i see plenty out there, but any recommendations, i would imagine he will just play games and maybe read books?
 
They don't have Google Play, but the Amazon Appstore has the usual suspects, so getting Angry Birds etc is no problem.

Or you can root it and get Google Play on there if you fancy.
 
Something like the Ployer Momo7? (IPS version) Dont ask me about the name :D Build quality is a lot better than a lot of other tablets in that price range. And spec wise its actually rather impressive for that price.
 
No idea if any of those are any good but they fit your budget and will probably be good enough for a 7 year old.
 
I was just thinking of this, I would like a tablet remote for ny htpc and the only purpose it would serve is living under my bed sheets and as a keypad and mouse input for the box
