Hello there!
I've just acquired an Intel i5 3570k, and I'm going to be putting my first build together in the new year.
First off, forget budget. I know some of the components I want, so anything else I'll just have to save for which is fine.
My basket is as follows:
YOUR BASKET
1 x Corsair Force Series 3 240GB SATA 2.5" 6Gb/s Solid State Drive (CSSD-F240GB3-BK) £159.98
1 x Corsair Obsidian 650D Gaming Midi Tower - Black - with FREE Corsair Dual Pack AF120 Performance Fans £149.99
1 x MSI Z77 MPower Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 ATX Motherboard £149.99
1 x Corsair Gamer Series GS 700W '80 Plus Bronze' Power Supply (CP-9020013-UK) £79.99
1 x Seagate Barracuda 7200.12 1TB SATA 6Gb/s 32MB Cache - OEM (ST31000524AS) £61.99
1 x Cooler Master V8 CPU Cooler (Socket 940/AM2/AM2+/AM3/LGA775/LGA1366) £54.98
1 x OcUK 22x DVD±RW SATA ReWriter (Black) - OEM £17.99
Total : £674.92 (includes shipping : FREE).

I know for certain that I want to get that specific MSI board, as well as the 650D case. I also have 8GB of Avexir Mpower memory being bought as a present, so I'm good there for now, I'll probably add more in the future.
The heatsink I really like, both for looks and from what I've read it seems to perform rather well. If I don't go for the V8, I'll probably be getting the Prolimatech Megahalems, and a couple of SP120's.
The things I'm not sure about at the moment are the PSU and storage drives. I know I'd like plenty of power, and modular isn't necessary for me either. And for storage, I'd like plenty of SSD room for OS and programs. Music, etc. will be going on the 1TB mechanical drive.
GPU-wise, I'm not too fussed at the moment. Probably going to wait for nVidia's new line of cards they're bound to release some point next year. I'm no hardcore gamer, so I'll make do with the HD 4000 in the CPU for now.
So, what are your thoughts, going off the motherboard, memory, case and processor are a given?
Thanks,
- Anthony.
