Company car

Mazda 6 Sport 2.2I Diesel £24,995 (Good price and spec)

Cheers
Zaf

Avoid - Had one from new 11 plate - Good spec but cheap interior materials, rattle rattle and poor poor engine. Changed to an A5 and apart from an annoyingly squeaky arm rest its much better.

Cheers guys

This is a lot harder than what I thought, think I've come to the conclusion for a decent BMW or Merc with extras it is going to go over Budget so hopefully in next two years when I get to pick again :)

Looking at the Skoda vRS Blackline Hatch DSG £22,455

Seems like a lot of car for £22k any thoughts?

A lot of car for the money, especially if you aren't picking up the tab if it breaks

Looks like the Blackline was Limited Edition only 500 in the UK and all sold out now :(

Octavia vRS specced same goes over budget!

Might go with the BMW X1... this is so hard to pick a car lol

You need to work out which type of car you want first - saloon, hatch, SUV etc...then short-list a few models and go and test drive/check them out.

Randomly choosing stuff out of thin air just doesn't work.

The Volvo S60 is best of that bunch imo, looks nice, a nice place to be and its stands out a bit from the usual Audi BMW crew.Mercs just too old a car now imo. The 1 series and x1 are just too damn ugly, faces that not even a mother can love.

I'd agree that the Mazda 6 is just a cheap feeling car sadly now, the new one looks good tho.

Look at the new Volvo v40 (the 1 series killer). My gf has a similar list and we took the top of the range V40 with satnav and 7.1 surround harmon speaker sound system for a drive, full leather, parking camera, professional phone system upgrade, twin exhausts, bodykit, nice alloys, all the bells and whistles etc and it was great. £26k for the top loaded model.

She also took the 1 and 3 series out for a test drive but for the same money the spec was awful. The 1 series she liked came in at 30k (similar sperc to the Volvo) and the 3 series was even more so both way out of budget.

Smallish car but lovely and within your budget.

'The 1 Series killer'?

Dramatic.

Lol, they even had it on the side of the car as a review from somewhere. In fact the demo car was logo'd up with every quote from motoring magazines where they rated it better than the 1 series.

Plus it's substantially cheaper, spec for spec.

Okay it's fwd vs rwd so not quite apples for apples. ;)

Oh it had the tft dynamic changable dash display where you can have what you want as the centre dial speedo, rev counter etc.

To be honest I wanted her to get the 1 series at very least or preferable the 3 series. There were even (low spec) 5 series on her car lsit but she wouldn;t even test drive the 5 series :(

The new ovlov looks quite nice actually will be interesting to hear what you think after having had it a while.

The only thing that killed the 1 series was the guy that signed off the new design though.

True and I must say the v40 looks stunning compared to the 1 series.

And the fact the 1 series needs £4k more spent on it to match the spec is too much of a price difference to live with the looks (although I quite like the look of the 1 series, from some angles)

Here's the pics as to what £25 buys you. Oh and you get xenons and led day lights as standard.

Plus if allowed, albeit with a lower spec, you can have the 254bhp t5 model although in full r-design lux spec it costs £30k.

Been looking at the Lexus CT 200h now Ahhhh

SDK you are right I need to pick a type and stick with it, from the start I said I didn't want a hatch but I like the Lexus and the V40

Going to book a test drive in all the diff types and see which one feels best for me busy day tomorrow and monday

The interior above looks nice but then it's a 30k car (Volvo) so it better be good.
I still can't over the mobile phone dash.

Its a 1 series killer on price but not driving fun :)

I could understand that point if the choices were the hotter versions of the 1 series, but a lowly dag dag.

That said no amount of fun can make up for the ugly face on new 1 series.

No the one in the pic is only £25k with that interior. It's only wanting the t5 254bhp verision that bumps the price!

In fact, losing a few of the gizmos and gadgets, you can pretty much get that interior for only £22k.

And it drives and handles lovely (for a fwd car)

But that's my problem with the 1 series. On spec and performance throughout the range the volvo v40 is up to £5k cheaper than the equivalent 1 series and the 1 series just isn;t pretty especially inside the cabin.

So at each price point you can have either the v40 but with a much better performance engine and matching spec or matching engine performance but a lush full leather interior with all the toys and gizmos.

As tinders said, for the same money if it comes down to rwd 120bhp 1 series with cloth interior or a 160bhp v40 with leather, I know which will be more fun.
