Lights at night illegal?

Also you could ask about having a shade fitted to it, but then if they don't and the fuse goes missing they might be knocking on your door..

Derby City Council? You're having a laugh. I had a letter years ago saying they needed permission to come on my land and repair the culvert where the local brook enters my property. I replied saying that's fine and giving access times. Still no visit.

The only time they have been round my house in a prompt manner was when a neighbor complained about me chucking wood from my property onto the green. I told them yes I was and it was wood one of their contractors had disposed of by throwing onto my property (they were doing some work on the trees in the green). Red faces that day.

:D

I have an axe. That may solve the lightproblem.

Be careful if you decide to damage any Security Lights, the Law takes a very dim view on such matters.

The neighbour behind me has a poorly positioned floodlight which makes it feel like I have been captured breaking out of a prison camp when I walk into my kitchen. He leaves it on all night sometimes so I can appreciate where your neighbour is coming from.

Perhaps go over to their side, hear their issue and see if it is true or they are just being miserable sods.

Floodlights can be annoying though if positioned wrong. Just because yours was there before the other house was built does not mean your light is positioned correctly. It could just mean that no one had any issue before because there wasn't until the other house was built. In other words, just because it never used to get complaints does not mean any new complaints are unfounded.

The David Thorne emails are hilarious - read them all years ago but it seems there are a few new ones up and i had forgotten all about him

Best part of that link for me?... The very last word, where Justin gets the country wrong!! :D :D :)

As for your neighbour... If the light is shining at her house or into her garden then move it, angle it down, shroud it, just change it so it's not annoying her. If it's not shining on her property then just ignore her

i would buy the most eye rapingest industrial high pressure sodium lamps you can find and shine them right on her house.

Next door to mum and dad's had one of these, it was very much not needed in a fully lit street and did shine through windows at night with the power of 1000 suns. Not fun to sleep while it was on, try to be nice about it and angle it away if possible. :)

Downstairs in my house, I have 4 par cans, 2 floods/uplighters, 4 strobes, 2 moonflowers, 1 Dynaled, 8 scanners, 1 smoke machine, all on DMX. I run them 3 or 4 nights a week. Got neighbours on both sides of my house. Haven't had a complaint in the 6 years I've lived here.

Shorter version: 1000w x 2 bulbs pointed on neighbours house.... That will teach him. If he complains then add another 1000w bulb. The secret here is blind the wee git !!

Just read that, thanks mulfunksion for the quote, made it easy to find :D
