Christmas and no money

1) Don't be so materialistic
2) Go to Home Bargains and B+M Bargains and buy some novelty stuff, it's the thought that counts.

An equally materialistic solution which will not actually change his feelings?

I don't think he wanted to be told what to do, just if other people were in the same situation.

I can't buy anything nice this year either, I'll make do with time invested in other people instead, kids need people to play with more than they need the toys in the first place. Look how much fun a massive cardboard box is to a toddler.

In the same boat, We have £10.60 until Tuesday..

I'm on the hunt for a job but it is tough out there.

Solution 2 was if solution 1 wasn't acceptable :P

Same boat. Given up caring about my brother really really really really really really wants an SSD. He now looks more to getting a job than waiting for Xmas (He's 15).

Start by selling your Playstation. You should not feel obliged to be a consumeristic moron at Xmas who has to buy rubbish.

This. 1000%.

In the past I used to buy iPad's, expensive watches and other expensive crap for people close to me, purely because I could afford it. This year all the girlfriend wants is to see Les Miserable and be taken for a nice dinner somewhere. Oh, and a pizza pen. Don't ask. No idea myself.
