Far Cry 3 Thread

Help please,

OK so I got a code from the AMD bundle from here, registered with Uplay, now have a Steam/Origin Ubisoft overlay... proceeded to add to cart, used the promo code, finished off the process, got a CD key but where do I register this?, nothing shows up in Uplay games tab...

Despite the negativity, it is still one of the best games released this year imo.

Probably the only 2 games that I would definitely put ahead of it are Dishonored and Sleeping Dogs. I would rate it about the same as Hitman and X-Com.

Shogun 2: Fall of the Samurai
Crusader King 2
Planetside 2
Torchlight 2
Black Mesa
Dark Souls
Legend of Grimrock
Tropico 4
Euro Truck Simulator 2

I'd gladly put these games among Dishonored and Sleeping Dogs at the top of the list, ahead of Far Cry 3.

Out of those, I have only played Black Mesa, Torchlight, Planetside and Dark Souls! I would say FC3 is better than those 4, apart from Black Mesa.

edit- and Mark of The Ninja maybe.

I don't think they did test it. For example I use the NUM KEYS for movement as Im left handed, but binding these for vehicles only works for quads/jeeps. I still have to use wasd for the hanglider!

TBF, using the numpad is going to give you massive problems in any game if you use them. I cannot imagine being able to play any action game at all using them. I am left-handed and have always used WASD. Give it a try.

I didn't mean it like that. it's the card alright. Under 60fps the game appear to be running @ 15fps when strafing allthough afterburner reports 50 - 59fps. I've enabled d3doverider to no avail. As soon as it hits 60fps it's perfectly smooth.

Try to play around with that GPU buffer setting from 0 to 5 or whatever it is. It did help a little for me.

I am finding the game fun, first game in years that I can play for hours, usually every other game I quit after 30 minutes, the game does have some serious flaws and it could have been so much better.

Only other games (single player) I have played this year have been:

- dishonoured (was a good game)
- black mesa (amazing)
- hitman absolution (haven't completed it yet, but it is pretty good so far)
- MOH warfighter (awful, just a pile of dog xxxx, stopped playing after like 2-3 hours)
- COD BO II (didn't even go past the second mission, although largely due to performance being awful for some reason, but the game was just the same thing as every other COD game zzzzzzzzzzz)
- sleeping dogs (good fun, similar to far cry 3, but finding FC 3 more fun and playing for longer periods)
- max payne 3 (loved it)

Having just spent another couple of hours on it I'll revise my original review score up to

65%
Not Skyrim with guns.

It's fun enough, just very repetitive.

What really annoys me is the loot boxes. It's not like in Skyrim where a difficult to find/get to loot box offers you decent loot. You just get the same old guff. They shouldn't be marked on maps either, where is the fun in that?

Everything flashes, even dead bodies. There are just so many things about it that are really irritating.

The sound is quite bad too, positional audio is poor and the voices seem muffled.

I really want to know what happens at the end, and what happens to Vaas, but I just don't think I can be bothered to put the effort in to complete it. And that's exactly what's required. Effort.

Any developer who writes the on-screen message "MASH SPACEBAR" needs to be sacked. Immediately.

MASH. They even wrote "MASH"!

I currently have F12012, Hitman Absolution and GTA4 to complete. This is at the bottom of the list, sadly. As it was the one I was most looking forward this autumn.

Audio is superb on my vengeance 1500 headset.
Loot boxes show on the map once you have discovered that give area think that is good.
Can agree with flashing items and mashing buttons tho.

Thinking about getting the Digital Deluxe Edition of this but am a little concerned that you can only use the key a limited number of times with a download. Does anyone know if this is the case? Can't seem to find a disc version of the Deluxe Edition anywhere now.

Ubisoft aren't well renowned for being decent when it comes to DRM so I just want to confirm if they limit the number of times you can download or install a game. Uplay doesn't make it very clear and recommends you make a backup copy. Does that mean you could then unlock it as many times as you like with your key?

Borderlands is sold as a looting/weapon collecting/xp farming game though. This is supposed to be a story based open world shooter. The mechanics just don't fit with what could have been an excellent story. You can almost tell that the development team are pretty young. It's just seems to lack the maturity needed to make it all hang together.

i just dont understand it, we've had months of hype, months of developers telling us how much better this is than the 2nd game, yet they've missed obvious faults that have been detected on this thread, within the first 6 hours of gameplay...

my guess is these are the same guys that made the 2nd game, if so; well this explains everything.
