Far Cry 3 Thread

I got FC2 on release day after reading the review in PC Gamer, played it for
3 or 4 hours, uninstalled it and sold it on the bay. I waited this time for some user reviews. Glad I did, looks like it was well over rated on the review sites, might get it when its a fiver in the sales.
 
Its really not as bad some people making out trust me. FC2 had its issue yes with constant shoot outs. But this is much better but its defo not perfect, game needs patching or new driver support for fixing some game performance issues/bugs
If you get get for around £20 that is a very good deal imo

This is the only thing keeping me playing at the moment, it's the side missions that I can't be bothered with. For example, the last one I did was to collect some dogtags from dead soldiers - all 3 are within literally a minute run from the NPC with nothing guarding them. I ******* hate these go and fetch quests, no imagination whatsoever they're just filler with little or no gain. Oh actually, there was a chest near each body with a ripped teddy bear inside that I could sell for $2 if my wallet wasn't full because I have nothing to spend money on as you get free guns anyway. Yeah it's fun for about an hour to set some mines and blow the **** out of a camp with C4 but there's only so many anonymous guys in red t-shirts I can kill before getting bored. Think I've spent more time playing poker than the dull side missions at the moment :D All that said, the environment does look really nice at times with a few tweaks and I love the characters you meet in the main story they did a darn good job there. The intro is awesome too, just a shame that once it's over you instantly transform from a scared boy to a super hero Arnie style pirate killing machine.
 
just completed it, overall solid game but lots of little annoying things that detracted from the overall experience. Also, all the side quests were poo, the main quests were excellent though, particularly enjoyed the flamethrower mission. Shame they couldn't have put more effort into the side quests and loot system.

Maybe they will get it right for far cry 4 :)
 
Thought I would progress the story a bit more. Did a mission on a boat, and I finally thought 'yeah this is a proper mission, much better'....then the unafailable QTEs start:rolleyes:

What? Nobody, including a left-handed player has to use the numpad anyway. There is absolutely no reason on earth why you would want to use the numpad.

What do you think of the game?

Typical Mal. Talking tripe without even having played it.

I am really enjoying it. So much better than FC2. I suggest people actually put some time into it and actually give it a go before forming a decision based off of the disappointment that was FC2.
 
Really enjoying this - the game world feels really alive and it's a really good mix of stunts / car accidents / sneaky snipey / set fire to stuff / shoot people in the face / find stuff in caverns / hunting animals through the bush.

The only downside is the menu/loot/crafting/backpack stuff but once you get used to it, it's less irritating.

As said above, give it more than a couple of hours and you'll really get into it.

Definitely in my top 5 games of 2012.

Loving the game so far.. looks and plays fantastically!

So glad it's not like FarCry 2.. I tried so hard to like that game, but I sold it almost instantly.

Indeed,this game is pure gold..... I always intend to do the main missions and just get side-tracked non-stop,it's brilliant. Great Fire-fights,great fire,Hunting,cool explosions,really good driving and so,so much to do.

To fully enjoy this game I think one must play freestyle and go with the flow,not just chase main missions.If you get side-tracked by something then go with it,where ever it may lead you,that is the fun.

Also this isn't a casual game you pick up for half an hour and have a blast.This calls for hours of investment,this game needs time to breathe,if you so will....

I already enjoyed FC 2 despite it's flaws,but this is great.Yes,there are some annoying things but the sheer scope,ambition and execution of this make it a great and ambitious FPS that provides tons of joy,imo.

9/10 :)
 
Enjoying it here, so fun!

i just dont like how there are no names when you hover over the animal icons on the map, would be nice to see exactly which is which, and where it is, rather than an icon that looks like boar but turns out to be pig \:

or adding all the names/pics to the legend menu would help.
 
I hated fc2 because you could not drive about without getting attacked all the dam way, every few meters and more bad guys. Is it the same in this because im intrested in buyiny it.
