Does the 580 gtx still cut it?

As the title, especially at the highest resolutions? That's what I have, but are the newer cards significantly better?

Yes it does, my bro has a 580 and plays everything max at 1080.

The only thing i see it struggle with is skyrim with loads of mods.

I have Sli 580 3gb running at 5760x1080, thye can play most games on high setting but the newer games out they not good enough i have to drop the settings down to med-low

If you don't want any sort of AA then yes it's capable but it struggles at 1080p to max out newer games and maintain 60fps. It's the main reason I upgraded to my 7950.

Of course it still cuts it, I agree with earlier post, wait until next generation. Then you will get a serious hike.

it drinks electricity compared to modern cards but if that doesnt bother you then yes its still fine

Recently upgraded to a 7970 form a GTX580, it was not cutting it at 1080p for me. But i like my eye candy.
