Android phone for my mum

Hi all, Not been on here a lot lately, but I want to get my mum an android phone for Christmas, Now I'm look at around £100ish payg. Or getting a cheap contract one for her £15ish.

I have seen the huawei ascend g330 but it doesn't come out until Dec. on talktalk, and next year with others. But I think this phone would be ideal.

So I am looking for preferably a dual core so it is a bit more future proof and at least a 3.5+ screen.

She currently has a HTC Touch HD, But I think she would benefit from having access to the apps on android such as Viber & Whatsapp...

Alcatel OT-983? £40 from o2. 1ghz android. We just got one for my gf's mum for Christmas.

looks quite good, but I am looking for something with around a 4" screen.
I mentioned the Sony Xperia P because O2 do a refurb for £130.

If I can get a cheap phone and then get her a giffgaff sim or cheap contract with phone.

Looking at contracts around £20 max for her I can get:
Motorola RAZR I
LG Optimus 4X HD

Or see what 2nd hand phones come up cheap, or wait for the Huawei Ascend G330

Xperia P I considered for my mum earlier in the year, but she found the default text size too small so got her an Ace 2 which she found better on the eye. She also loves the dictation on it.

If you're are looking at contracts for that price a month you could get the HTC one s, which is far better than all the other phones at that cost, in the same league as the x and GS 3 and other high end phones, better than the RAZR I to.

If you buy out right you could get the 8gb nexus 4 for about £40-50 more, although it is 4.7" screen, will have to wait till middle of December for more stock though.

If you don't want to spend over £200 then get a second hand gs 2

Contract must have at least - 100mins, 2000texts, 500mb data.

The only company that offers that with reasonable phones is talktalk. And they dont have the htc s for £20.

Razr I or Xperia J have that deal btw (£20.50), Orange Panther

One S is slightly expensive thank £20/m with the mis/txt/int u need

Razr i looks very nice, but the xperia J is rated as crap.

Between Razr I and Xperia J, I would go for Razr I

You can get this deal on mobile phones direct

Make sure your Mum would get good signal with t- Mobile first though and you would need a case as the black model would chip easily if your Mum isn't careful with phones

If you go for contract decide between s and RAZR I

If you don't want to spend over £200 out right and aren't fussed on the RAZR or/and s or/and can't find a good deal on a decent network then get a second hand gs 2 or Galaxy nexus.

Any WP7 phone would be my recommendation. Normally around that price now and so far there hasn't been a bad Windows Phone as they are all standardised (so no slow down full stop and as fast/faster than an S3 day to day...)

EDIT: For example £150 for the Nokia 800. An absolute bargain and I doubt you will find anything anywhere near as good for the price with Android on.

EDIT2: And WP has both Viber and WhatsApp before the "lack" of apps argument is made.
