Hey all, so I currently sport a logitech g15 v2. I love the backlit keys and lcd display. I've been asked what I want for christmas, and I've pretty much got everything I need in terms of PC bits, and theres no games i particularly want right now, and I don't need money, So I thought maybe a new keyboard. I have a razer deathadder mouse which I like, not sure whether to upgrade or not.
should I get a mech keyboard? if so, which? looking at a cheery g80 and a corsair k60 at the moment, but what should I look for? really, I'd like it to be backlit keys, and be smart looking, not beige. Budget is whichever is best value for money, suppose I could go to £110. I don't game that much to be honest, Im not an fps gamer, I play sleeping dogs, and gta 4, open world games, and fifa, and racing games, and a few RPG's, but not hardcore. Just of an evening or a weekend I'll play for a few hours. I have a 3d samsung sa950 now, so I don't need a new monitor. I'm just stuck on what to ask for. I'd prefer it to be cheaper, obviously moneys tight so I don't want to ask too much for christmas.

Thanks!
stephen

Mechanical keyboards are ENTIRELY personal preference.
I can't type on them, way too awkward (gave multiple ones about 2 week breaking in time and they where still horrible to use), I find it easier to use a cheap chiclet keyboard, the current one I have has lasted a good 2 years and its still as good as new and its been used allot. I'm a heavy typer, I have to press the button all the way to the bottom, mechanical keyboards just make it harder + noisier.

Try one in a store first, see how you type on them.

Preference, the only thing mechanic keyboards have over others are they are sturdier and respond better, everything else is opinions.

So a keyboard isn't a keyboard.
Liking a mechanical keyboard however is purely preference, as are the different switches.

Some people love my keyboard, some hate it.
I personally struggle using membrane now.

No its a frog :) and yeh, its all preference, I can't use any mechanical's, they are horrible to type on and I just make mistakes all the time, I can't even use high key membranes.
B> a mechanical with low keys, even though that would defeat the purpose :D

I'm a light gamer too but recently bought the razer blackwidow ultimate for the sake of it really! For me, they are built to an amazing standard and the keys feel amazing to type on with a satisfying click on each press and I've found I'm making fewer typing errors than I was previously.

My main reason for the purchase however was the green backlit keys to match my green led naga mouse and green rig with green ram lol :D
