hey guys, Was just wondering if you have recommendations/changes that I can make before I drop my wallet and bow down to the gods of overclocking to summon my parts.

RULES:
1. Needs to look slick.
2. Feel free to change the pipe and components for colour matching!
3. Don't go crazy and build me a budget machine.
4. The highest my budget can ever go is £2000
5. The computer is used for gaming and some heavy indy/design programs
6. Needs to fly like hot **** off a shiny shovel for the next 3 years!

I'd go for the Ivy Bridge i7 + Z77.

Damn you! I'm trying to stick to 2011 because of the possibility of 1. More cores and 2. Those extra dimms really help with flexibility and the 2011 really comes into its own when being pushed and shoved with the CAD etc. Would say the sacrifice would still enable me to keep going for 3 (ish) years?

Are there any benchmarks suggesting that the 2011 is faster when using CAD? I might be completely wrong.

I'd be inclined to spend less (cut back on the case) and upgrade again in 2 years.

Something like this as a backbone? Open for discussions.

performance wise the 8320 is just as good as the 3770, I'm just cautious about the 1155 platform because of the limitations on physical cores and the dimms. Also, the overall bandwidth on the boards is a bit 'thicker' As for the case I want to keep the build strictly in the Cosmos 2. Its merely just my passionate love for that damned case. Also I'm currently running a full tower and going down to a mid would feel a bit dirty.

I'm not throwing back what your offering, I don't want to come along as a stubborn old git. Not too much anyway =)

Also, Upgrading after two years is also a viable option, But I would be more inclined to get monster chassis as after many builds this will be my first 'dream' build
