Just sold an item on ebay and the buyer wants tp pay for postage using collect+ courier service.

That means taking it to a local shop and them sending it to another local shop near where the buyer is.

Am I right in thinking the item would not be covered under ebay/paypal as it is not being sent to the paypal address and he is not signing for it?

I've asked him for the money for RM special delivery instead (even tho he's sent me a packing slip).

I believe its covered because eBay actually offer it as an option at checkout. Their website also says that its inline with protection rules for items up to £150.

Its still a fully tracked service, just that the person picking it up isn't signing for it at their house, but a shop instead. But I'd add to that, does the buyer actually want to pick it up from a shop? As they will just deliver it to their home address using Yodel unless they specify wanting to pick it up.

Yes I believe so. Paypal and ebay will only cover you if you mail it to the address that the buyer has registered with paypal.

The packing slip has an address of a local shop near to where the buyer lives.

Item is worth £120 and I offered SD postage of only £10 and he wants to do it the cheap way. Don't want to get scammed so i'm standing firm on this. Don't want to send items point to point.

If Special Delivery was the only postage option you offered, then you are well within your rights to inform him that was the option he agreed to when bidding on the auction.

If he doesn't like it, he shouldn't have bid, thus he can either agree, or you open a dispute, which should favour you if he isn't paying the delivery charge. Thus you get your fees back, but will have to relist.

100 percent this. I get the odd chancer trying this with me as well. My post office is half a mile away and the collect+ is 4 miles away for me!

The collect+ point is about 10 miles from me post office 2miles. Not a practical this in countryside
