So guys,

reduced to playing games on my HDTV so will fashion something to put on my lap so i can rest my keyboard and mouse on. Cables won't reach to the pc so i want a wireless deskset.
I've heard some people suffer when playing shooters due to input lag on wireless?

If so, can anyone recommend a decent wireless gaming set please.
I'm a LEFTIE so that limits the multi-functional mouse buttons ones, which seem only to be made for right-handers. Not that i tend to configure them anyway.

Not bothered about a mechanical keyboard tbh, non-mechanical ones have never really given me any trouble.

Thanks for any advice.

:)

Have you noticed the lag using mouse/kb over a tv? Either way its a little awkward if you notice it. Bitching aside I would recommend a Logitech keyboard combined with a sturdy mouse. You also won't find a wireless mechanical keyboard.

To be honest, With a bit of looking around on google you will find something you like. I know this isn't very helpful but there are loads of options and recommending something I use and like isn't going to translate to everyone and I don't want to give bad advice. I would however say that its probably best to stay away from Razer and lean towards Logitech if you want something that's going to last.

Sorry if this post was more bitching then helpful \o/

EDIT: I forgot to mention that the reason you don't find many 'gamer' wireless products is because gamers swear by their cables. Reduced input lag and such.

Lol, thanks, that's fine, I'm using the Logitech K520 right now, but on my work pc, not tried for gaming. As basic as it is, i'm happy with it. Maybe i'll have to take it home and try in on the gaming rig with MOH:Warfighter.

The kb drpeirson linked is fine, I have used it and it feels decent for typing on and never noticed any lag gaming with it.

The wireless mice from gigabyte look like a good compromise - they boast features gamers will want without costing the earth.

If you honestly want to use a wireless mouse/keyboard for gaming then I really recommend you wouldn't.

I've tried both, various different products and brands and been left disappointed every single time!

Something like that would do for a keyboard. the mouse however will be tricky, it depends if you palm rest your mouse or claw it. All I can do is point you in the right direction If your looking for a certain style/feel

Hhmm....i'm afraid for my gaming needs that won't do, as being a lefty, i use the arrow keys to move/strafe (with my right hand) and usually the delete, end, page down etc buttons are directly above the arrows keys and i use them all.
But that keyboard has a weird layout for me.

Thanks though.

you could try using a controller (360/ps3) and see how you get along.. The only problem with that is.. 1. You would feel dirty and cheap 2. If you were born to use a keyboard and mouse your not going to get along very well. I think it might be the only way to compensate for the 'lag'. Otherwise, give the wireless kb/mouse a go and if it works for you, hell it works :)

It isn't always the peripherals that make the gamer :)

It's more the mouse lag when looking around quickly in a FPS game that i thought may be an issue.
It may not be an issue.....i may be worrying about nothing.
It will mostly be for single player, not online where other obvious factors can add lag to the game.

Bah, I say throw her together and give her a go! I reserve my 42" for strategy games because in FPS's there is obvious input lag and its terrible, especially when your in a fast paced game.. If I am flying jets around or driving tanks on BF3 then I can usually deal with it (Plus flying a jet on that TV looks beautiful!)

You were doing so well until you got round the swear filter with the words 'controller (360/ps3)'
I cannot use them damned things for toffee. kb/mouse monkey through and through :D

I'll try what i have and see how it goes i guess.

Sorry for dragging this post along after the answers but I have to just say that your damned right about controllers.

Can maybe lend a helping hand here.

I built a PC about 7 months ago for Battlefield 3 mainly which I play on my 46" Samsung LED. I use a pretty old Logitech MX3200 Desktop set which was one of the first laser mice I believe.

To begin with I thought it was terrible, VERY noticeable input lag but a bit of research showed that you need to set the HDMI input to 'PC Mode' which involves renaming the inputs (not just an option in the menus) after I did this the difference was day and night with it being very playable. I did buy a Steelpad 4D which makes it feel very responsive. Although I would like to use a wired kb/mouse i'm in the same position as you and to be honest although i'm sure there is a difference and possibly in the odd few situations it may hinder you. I aim pretty damn well most of the time using a wireless setup! I'm not a 'hardcore' gamer but am aware of input lag etc and did a lot of research into it.

Thanks Richeh, much appreciated input.
The wireless mouse works fine when playing dishonored on my laptop.
My TV is a Panny 47" LED 3D. I'm sure it'll have a similar option. Did you simply mean the gaming mode that most consoles kiddies use to reduce the response times?

Not necessarily. For instance my samsung has a game mode but it does nothing to improve response times. Ask over at avforums about ur specific set or feel free to post the model and will have a look myself
