Just a query really, bought some Osram nightbreaker Plus H1's back in January, have put probably 75 hours max into them since that time and 1 has blown today, I know some people said they had issues but the overall consensus was good so I tried them!

Real shame as they gave out such better light compared with my standard bulbs! Whats a good bulb of choice right now? Nightbreaker's again and hope for more luck? Or some others? Car is a 2004 Civic Sport.

Glad I bought the long lifetime bulbs, I assume the standard ones just explode as you put them in the socket?

Not very commonly brought up but I highly rate the Osram Cool Blue Intense bulbs, look past the Halfords'esque name and they are actually VERY good bulbs.

Got some Ring Ultima 120% in just now, not bad, definately better than stock which is all I have to compare it to. Not nearly as good as the PIAA ones I had in my honda.

I read somewhere that you shouldn't touch the glass of the bulb, as it shortens the life of bulbs.

ISTR that the normal "design life" for headlamp bulbs is around 100 hours. With incandescent bulbs the compromise has always been life Vs Performance so 75 Hrs may not be too bad. it is also worth checking the alternator output. Even a small over-voltage can have a dramatic effect on bulb life

entirely true ^

nightbreakers are the best you are gonna get without swapping to a hid kit.

a 2004 civic suggests FL headlights with projectors meaning you could go down that route if you wanted to but the osrams are as good as any.

I hear good things about the PIAA ones but they are mega money.

I have nightbreakers from powerbulbs, you can get cashback through quidco too ;)

Do these bulbs give off an extremely bright light which dazzles the other drivers?

Which bulbs offer better light whilst also being friendly to other road users?

when i changed from nightbreakers (after 18 months) to halfords +50% (a year ago) i barely noticed a difference

would be good to see what these 120% bulbs perform like

Thanks mate, yeah I'm not in the market for a HD kit, Nightbreakers were a MASSIVE increase over stock bulbs, just spoken to Osram, they'll examine the bulbs and replace if they are classed as "blown early" which means buying another set of bulbs, then sending the old one off, and if it is classed as broken they'll THEN send me a new set, not really a very good way to do it, but obviously need bulbs in all the time!!

So, for now, to Osram, or not to Osram? :(

I have Ring 120% xenon. I have tried night breakers and they consistently blew.

The best I've used is PIAA that are nearon the same as HID but ironically cost the more than a HID conversion if you have a projector setup.
